Cardinals Blocking Pope Francis Move on Gay and Divorced Catholics 'Unaware' of Real Life – Bishop

Cardinals based in Rome showed ‘lack of awareness’ of what life is really like over homosexuality and divorce, says Anglican delegate at the Catholic Synod of Bishops

Cardinals closeted in the Vatican are holding out against Pope Francis’s drive to make the Roman Catholic Church more welcoming to gay people and divorcees because of a “lack of awareness” of real life, a leading Anglican bishop has suggested.

The Bishop of Durham, the Rt Rev Paul Butler, one of a handful of non-Roman Catholics invited to take part in a global gathering of bishops in Rome to discuss family issues, said he was “excited and intrigued” by much of what he saw.

But he said he left with the impression that while clergy around the world are reaching out beyond their traditional audiences with a “more thoughtful and open” approach, Cardinals ensconced in Rome appeared more concerned about doctrinal purity.

Pope Francis suffered an apparent setback in his efforts to make the Catholic Church more welcoming to those traditionally viewed as “sinners” last week, when a specially-convened synod failed to approve parts of a key declaration signalling a change a new tone.

The document had already been significantly watered down from an initial draft which spoke of the need to “respect, welcome and value” people in same-sex relationships.

I don't know what the usual protocol is at synods, but I do know that 50 years ago, when the Vatican II Ecumenical Council was underway, there were Anglican and Orthodox hierarchs there as observers. Maybe others as well.

They were not supposed to be able to address the deliberations, much less to vote, but the idea was that they could listen and pray.

I suppose the reality was they could literally lobby --- in the lobby !-- as well. Dinner. Photo-ops. Sweet.

This guy I would chuck out with a nice "Thanks for sharing" card.

"And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another and toward all men, even as we do toward you: to the end he may establish your hearts unblameable IN HOLINESS BEFORE GOD, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints." 1 Thess 3:12-13

-- It is not love to turn away from what God has already decreed, and to give those caught up in sin, a pass.

-- We are to love each other in truth (just as the apostles modeled love before us), so that we increase in that same love, becoming blameless before the Lord, walking in holiness (the divorces and sexual immorality are rectified with a new heart towards God).

But we don't put lipstick on a pig and say it's not a pig.

For all those on FR who think I only bash Catholics, allow me to bash this heretical idiot. TheAnglican church and her “social justice” priests are lying apostates who couldn’t care less about Christ. They are the religious arm of the progressive traitors who afflict England and America through the satanic Episcopal church.

If this goes forward, it will only encourage Muslims who already have a big target on the backs of Christians in their areas. In those contested areas in Africa, it will give an upper hand to the islamo-fascists, because simple people have a natural sense that homosexuality is unnatural, and that natural sense hasn’t been overridden by western ‘education’ and propaganda.

The ironic thing about this “lack of awareness” about the real life of most if not all of those of the homosexual orientation, is that it is generally the leftists who are brainwashed into having an unreal, white picket fence perception of such relationships. There is little, if any faithfulness in such relationships, but instead a compulsive cruising and drive for anonymous sex. This is because the victims can’t complete each other as a man and a woman can but are on a restless attempt to heal a wound through sex, be it a wound of emotional or physical abandonment or sexual abuse. Do they know men of the homosexual orientation have anal cancer rates 400% higher than the general population of men? Do they know how the lifestyle is filled with poor health in general, shorter lifespans, substance abuse, violence, depression and suicide?

Is "traditionally viewed as sinners" code speak for "those we think we are purer than"? We a re all sinners and no matter how often we repent, we continue to do sinful things. The only sin that the Bible distinguishes from the rest is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. Jesus ministered to those who were most obvious in their sins because they needed it more than the average Joe. If anyone thinks that the act of Confession makes them more pure and "worthy of the Host" they don't understand the Bible, the Gift of Jesus' Blood, or the concept of Grace. Like the pharisees, they have fallen from Grace and do not even realize it.
