I was born and grew up in a small town south of Tupelo, MS and attended Mssissippi State University. An ancestor was from Palantine which I think was in Germany. Another was from Alsace-Lorraine. The one from Palantine was a Lutheran. Not too many of those around that area either. I have ancestors from Ireland, Scotland, England, Russia, plus a few others. One of my great grandmothers was a Cherokee. She and her children were offered land in Indian Territory but turned it down. It is odd that none were Catholic from those countries. Oh, 2 families came over on the Mayflower so we have been here a long time. I think their names were Allerton and Brewster. Their kids married later.

Please note, hearing Scripture read is good, but being taught what they mean in their entirety is much better.

I couldn't agree with you more!!!!! However, remember that the Catholic Church is the only organization on Earth to have the authority to interpret scripture. You can see what happened when Luther, Calvin, Zwingley, Henry VIII, The Wesley brothers , etc. decided to interpret things for themselves...what could possibly go wrong??

A little advice: some RCs have a history of making up what they cannot prove, and insisting they are true, and have been proven wrong.

in my very long life, I have NEVER seen a Catholic teaching proven false......never.

The consequence is the same, regardless of whether we consider some sin worse than others or think God does.

yeah right.....please

You couldn't be more wrong. Jesus said that HE was the way, the truth, and the life and that no man comes to the Father but through Him. If salvation were through any other means, Christ died for nothing. It doesn't matter how good WE think someone is. God's standard is absolute perfection.

so the hundreds of billions of humans that God created, who had no knowledge whatsoever of who or what Jesus Christ was, are condemned to an eternity of fire and pain in Hell...go ahead and believe such nonsense if you wish, but God wouldn't create any of His children and condemn them to hell with no recourse.......period.

“I couldn’t agree with you more!!!!! However, remember that the Catholic Church is the only organization on Earth to have the authority to interpret scripture.”

Actually, you will find that no where in Scripture. It is self-awarded legitimacy. You may truly believe it. Great. No one outside your denomination does.

“You can see what happened when Luther, Calvin, Zwingley, Henry VIII, The Wesley brothers , etc. decided to interpret things for themselves...what could possibly go wrong?? “

I agree that the recovery of the Gospel of Grace was a wonderful blessing by Luther and others who came later!

I can also see the problems in history of the RC church and what it ended up believing.

Is that why Catholics make stuff up?

Catholics aren’t as screwy as the Mormons but that’s not from lack of trying!

By the way, God owns God’s word. Catholics ought to ease up on the arrogance.

Romans 1:18-21 addresses this.

18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

19because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.

20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

21For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

I think we've already proven this statement wrong regarding our conversation on venial and mortal sins. you may not choose to accept it but it has been proven wrong.

there are many other topics of catholicism that have been proven wrong on FR as well.

” in my very long life, I have NEVER seen a Catholic teaching proven false......never. “

Add to this that the blind rarely see much of anything. They wish they could. It is those who can see, but don’t want to that are alarming.

I love having the Bible on my iPad. Since I have been so sick since 2008, I read it a lot. Thankfully, I am not seeing double anymore. PTL!!! I enjoy Psalms.

Sorry you have been infirm, but glad for your joy in the Lord.
