Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

And these teachings of the Catholic church galore are not found in Scripture either, therefore they are unscriptural doctrines, man-made teachings, and easily refutable

yeah, they can all be proven and authenticated and have been for 2,014 years. If fallen away Catholics would spend 10% of the time authenticating the teachings of the church(very easy to do) that they do trying to find made up, self satisfying, self justifying reasons that they can't live up to Catholic standards...they'd be far better off aand probably very good and learned Catholics. When people reject their American citizenship, you'll hear a zillion perceived evils and a zillion different misguided opinions on everything from Hiroshima to jaywalking simply to justify their inane decision.

the list that you posted contains many teachings of not only Catholicism, but Christianity in general.....I mean..The Trinity....come on now, if your religious education has to begin at that level, you'll never even be an altar girl muchless the Pope.

too much time spent on trying to justify establishing your own idea of what the truth of Christianity is can be very dangerous...you don't have a couple of thousand years to iron out the rough spots...the Catholic church did it for you and they are RIGHT, not part of the time...ALL of the time

>>you post a lot on the forum anonymously.

I wonder if you’ve got the cajones to come and meet a group of Catholics in a bar and say the same things to them - face to face?<<

Is that where you all hang out?

>>Catholics convert to Protestantism because they want to marry a divorcee or they want to use The Pill.<<

I didn’t. But the surveys show that RCs don’t have to leave to do all of the above.

>>You continue to single out the catholic church. You make no mention of the other churches where Mary is venerated. Yes, that qualifies as an attack on a particular church.<<

Yes the Muslims have similar views.

>>Right: the woman loved Jesus and she venerated Mary. Did Jesus stop her? No, He explain how she should venerate His Blessed Mother: for Mary’s hearing Him, the Word, and keeping Him and His word.<<

Once again, looking hard for something that is not there.

In the case of Mary, we pray to her both out of respect and also to ask her, essentially, to put in a good word for us with her Son.
-——————————————————————————I Don`t want to take sides here but you say that you pray to Mary while so many others deny actually praying to her.

So is it taught different in one Church than it is in another or what?

Hello, Friend in Christ! Prots don’t fear Catholics...they are trying to reconcile with them...in the name of the Lord!

I know something that helps me on situations where I'm trying to reconcile. I like to hear what the other person thinks so I can see where they're coming from. It helps both sides to get a look at each other's point of view. I may not be able to agree with a person, but I can try to step into their shoes for a minute.

I have a genuine question. If the Protestant Reformers, most notably Martin Luther, were discontented with the sale of indulgences, which most informed Catholics will admit was not the way things were meant to be, why was the idea of Purgatory rejected completely, instead of simply rejecting the sale of indulgences?

Again, this is out of a genuine desire to understand.

Thank you, and God bless you!

This thread was posted for the sole purpose of causing controversy on FR.

That could be but it at least gives us something to read, many threads are either so boring they put me to sleep or so technical I have no idea what they are saying.

Sir, hanging out in bars and picking fights is not good Christian living.

Nor is provoking folks here to do so. You have had several posts removed and are promoting an adversarial tone.

I would also suggest losing the accusing tone of “anonymous posters” as your screen name contains “Lurker.”
Perhaps go back to your namesake.

I would say first your careening about bars and threatening other Freepers is most disturbing and not becoming for a Christian.

No one is going to give out their PII to a self described “Lurker.”

Is this what RC apologetics has gone? Bar room brawling?

I see 271 was removed too. L98 racking up some RM yellow flags tonight.

I thought all the bars closed by this time on Sundays?
