Thproblem is that this is a vanity posted for the sole purpose of causing a fight. It is not an article, and some FReepers are incapable of respectful discussion. For example, at this posting Catholicism has been called a cult twice.

Do you realize that if Catholics ignored the whole thread from the beginning there would probably be about 10-15 posts in it at best? But no, Catholics need to come in and start stuff.

The primary subject was prayer directed towards "Mary".

Marialis Cultus from the Vatican...

not that that source sways me as for the information and claims discussed there in toto, for the RCC can be wrong about much, even as also that source itself can be generally correct enough about many things.

It's like the more some things are talked about --- the more peculiarities creep in --- to then become in end result significant departure from Scripture and earliest traditions both.

One way that occurred, unfolding slowly, full centuries after the original Apostles and the 1st generation witnesses to those Apostles had then died --- was the door was opened to allow in claims as towards what transpires in spiritual realms, which descriptions and theological details for first arose from within Gnostic sources...this sort of thing having had occurred perhaps unwittingly so. As something of an aside here, this additional 'explanation' of how the realm of spirit functions. A.W. Tozer on How to Try the Spirits appears to me to be theologically sound.

Returning more squarely towards prayer directed towards "Mary" herself, James White asks the question "Mary, another Redeemer?" referenced & briefly discussed under heading of Marian dogmas began with fiction and Gnostic accounts

How many names are there, under by which one may be saved?

According to Scripture, the Apostle Peter said that there is only One name... (Acts 4:12)

Of possible further interest --->https://bible.org/article touches upon some of the names which have been used for God (the Father) dating back 5000 years or so when referencing there forms of 'El' which can be traced that many years back to ancient Akkadian sources (among the oldest writings known to man). Perhaps it stands to recall here, that Abram was called out from (the lands of) Ur of the Chaldees?

Does the Lord our God change -- or is He instead, in His fundamental nature unchanging/immutable?

Are we (Christians) sons and daughters of Abraham by faith whom through Christ's own propitiatory sacrifice can now, enable us by spirit of adoption cry unto God -- Abba, Father? (Romans 8:15) indicates "yes".

Yes we can be (are called in this way to be) not by our own strength, but by Spirit -- even the Spirit which He Himself sends, which can and will lead us to all truth and righteousness (John 16:15)
