How Christians Will Know They Can Join Hands With Rome

With Reformation Day coming up, this is a good time to recall why the Reformers departed from Roman Catholicism. In our day especially, it seems that many Christians have history-amnesia when it comes to the importance of what God did through the Reformers. During the Reformation, great confusion existed regarding what was, and was not, the true church of Christ. Rome had asserted itself as the true church for centuries, and continues to do so today. However, as the Reformers recognized then, Christians must follow in step today by recalling that joining hands with Rome is a departure from Christ.

To be clear, this is not to say that everyone who sits in a Roman Catholic church is not a Christian. What it is saying is that several changes must occur before Roman Catholicism, by the book, can be considered biblical Christianity. And the men and women of the Reformation understood this, hence their necessary break with Rome. In their case, and ours, joining Christ necessitates breaking with Rome and coming under Christ means coming out from under Rome.

Christians will know that it is time to join hands with Rome when it does the following:

1. Renounce the Papacy.

I trust no man's teaching unless I can substantiate in scripture. Catholics would be wise to follow that concept.

Which is why I reject sola scriptura, sola fide and "once saved always saved." None of these can be substantiated by Scripture.

“The Catholic Church stands condemned.”

According to people such as yourself, there are no Christians because if I put 100 of you in a room there will be 101 definitions of what a Christian must be and no one besides the definer meets their definition.

“Try taking communion. Watch the reaction. “

I have not only be encouraged to do so by Catholics at mass, but I have watched others do so. Have you ever witnessed anyone in a Catholic church be denied communion for not being Catholic? Don’t lie, God’s watching.

“you know that the the “Religion forum “ of FR has become a proselytizing tool of Rome”

No, it has become the religion bashing tool for self-righteous people that think they, and they alone, are Christians.

Pride is a sin.

No God speaks for Himself in His word... and what He says is that HE is the potter and we are the clay.. some vessels He makes for Honor and some for dishonor ....

I have no idea where you are coming from.

I also have no idea where you are coming from either, if you are referring to the idea that the Sabbath is dead I do not believe it.

The ten commandments are ever lasting laws which has been found impossible to be kept to the letter of the law.

Jeremiah 31
I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Hebrews 8
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Even though Jesus is the author of the new covenant he told us to keep the commandments, not the letter of the law but in out hearts, as the new covenant says.

My point was that many Sunday Sabbath keepers will say that the Sabbath no longer applies but if they really believe that what is the point of trying to change the day it happened?

How do you change a historical event such as the Day God rested? it can not be changed.

And people confuse the doings of the early Christians as a sign that the Sabbath has been changed to the first day of the week.

But it was not the early Christians who started saying that the Sabbath was changed to the first day of the week.

We can worship or hold Church service any time we want so what is the point in trying to prove the Sabbath is void or trying to change it to Sunday?

“have you ever read the entire bible ? “

Why would that matter since some people claim they have yet get so much of it wrong anyway?

Exactly. People need to hijack the threads and turn them into Apple vs Microsoft debates just for fun.

“but the Jesus they believed in.”

That is such a copout. There is only one Jesus and to try to claim someone else has invented another is nothing more than judgmental lunacy. So, according to that logic, I won’t claim you don’t worship Jesus, I’ll just claim you worship a different Jesus. Nuthouse Lawyerisms.

The problem is the unsaved can not rightly divide the word of God.. it is a puzzle to them .. it is foolishness to the perishing ...Scripture clearly teaches that those Christ has saved are held tightly in His grip and He preserves them to the end.. Do you understand what sola fide really means?

“but the Jesus they believed in.”

Also according to that logic there must be millions of Jesus figures are no one who believes in such lunacy agrees that another person meets their definition of a follower of Christ. Therefore, all those millions of other people must follow a different Jesus, so planet must have been full of Jesus figures like Santa Clauses at the mall at Christmas.

And you use that in some way to prove that the Catholic Church is correct? Makes no sense. How about let's compare all of those "101" to what scripture actually says. I will assure you that all but one of them only uses snippets of scripture rather than all of it.
