You MUST born again (a second time) of the Spirit, not to be confused with water baptism.
Anyway, it comes down to who do you believe in ultimately: Lord Jesus Christ's word (as recorded in the Gospel of John)...or fallible men's changeable teachings that will and always have conflicted with what Jesus of Nazareth taught.
