Get serious. Exactly the same thing happened in Protestant churches, and exactly the same reaction to it is happening now. Else why did the PCA congregation nearest me sell their 1960's econobox generic church (to the Mormons, oddly enough) and build a spanking new church that looks like this?

nothing

And which, incidentally, is the first new neo-Gothic structure (Catholic OR Protestant) built here in the last 50 years (thus my point above).

This is not a "Catholic thing" or a "Protestant thing," but a "Christian thing," at least in affluent countries.

Or, as another poster succinctly put it: Get a life.

Comparing churches built on either side of 1964, an archaeologist a thousand years from now would conclude that one religious organization ceased to exist and was replaced by another one.

Well put.

**Get a life.**

I have one.

**Else why did the PCA congregation nearest me sell their 1960’s econobox generic church (to the Mormons, oddly enough) and build a spanking new church that looks like this?**

The PCA, which I am not a member of BTW, isn’t bickering over icons. As evidenced by this article and replies, tons of Papists seem to have their knickers in a wad over issue. So much for Roman Catholic unity.

Speaking of Roman Catholic unity, how is your socialist Pope working out for you? You ready to support his upcoming teaching on climate change?

Closed RC churches here are turning into Mosques or left to rot

**Get a life**

I have a wonderful life.

God has blessed me with Savior. I have a wonderful wife, three children who are a joy. A wonderful job.

Perhaps it is you who needs a life.

And the PCA is growing.

Sola Deo Gloria!

Removing my post doesn’t change the truth of it.

Just one more reason why I rarely even bother to look at these religious threads. There’s really nothing religious about them. And the bias is obvious.

We aren’t the ones making a big hairy deal about being the one true church and pretending to have uninity in Rome.

For all y’all chest thumping there seems to be a lot of whining about lack uniformity.

How far they have fallen from the outdoor gatherings or home assemblies of the times of the apostles. One wonders how anyone can be saved or properly worship God in some remote jungle or poverty ridden area. Evidently only the elite and wealthy with the wherewithal to erect some correctly gilded edifice are worthy of God’s favor.

Dolan was Archbishop of Milwaukee before he went to NY. I guess that explains some things.
