Megachurch Leader Claims ‘Divine Wind’ Moved Him to Fully Accept Members Practicing Homosexuality

NASHVILLE – An apostate pastor in the Bible Belt who leads the congregation that country star Carrie Underwood attends recently announced from the pulpit that not only can practicing homosexuals be members, but those in sexual sin can now fully serve in his church and will be allowed to “marry” at the facility.

“Our position that these siblings of ours, other than heterosexual, … cannot have the full privileges of membership, but only partial membership, has changed,” Stan Mitchell of GracePointe Church in Franklin, Tennessee announced earlier this month as some clapped and others sat silently in disapproval. “Full privileges are extended now to you with the same expectations of faithfulness, sobriety, holiness, wholeness, fidelity, godliness, skill, and willingness. That is expected of all,” he continued. “Full membership means being able to serve in leadership and give all of your gifts and to receive all the sacraments; not only communion and baptism, but child dedication and marriage.”

We are supposed to judge out of love, above all else, and out of love, when something isn’t right, it’s not right. We don’t have an obligation to praise or support sin, and that is the judgement.

Mechanicos is exactly right. Jesus thought so HIGHLY of judging, that he forbade it being done wrong. It is not possible to go through life, particularly the Christian life, without judging, which is simply making distinctions. In fact, that is the essence of human life; it's what separates us from animals.

It will soon be a lot less than 480. Such carcasses rot pretty quickly once demonic liberalism takes full hold.

His “church” will go from mega to mini. It’s already gone from 1,000 at each service to 400 something each service. Now that he’s gone over the deep end in totality, the church will die just like all the other church that embrace and cheer on sin.

Okay. Does that mean that now you will allow alcoholics to drink during service or thieves that are members to steal from other members? How about murder? Okay for those with that particular sin to murder within the Church?
Do you see how asinine you are being?
Love the sinner DO NOT ACCEPT OR PROMOTE THE SIN..............

That’s what happens when a church moves away from the Bible.

Pray America is waking

Once again for the one billionth time. Are you listening Carrie? The greatest command is to love our neighbor. If my neighbor’s house is on fire I need to tell him. Homosexual practice and acceptance is a sin that leads to death… just like the fire.

Don’t accept it. Don’t condone it. Don’t ignore it. This is a loving judgment!

Homosexual degenerates are free to start their own churches.

That is what’s happening here. Which is why he does not mention Jesus Christ.

CC to Gamecock, for his antics of the megachurch ping list.
“Full membership means being able to serve in leadership and give all of your gifts and to receive all the sacraments; not only communion and baptism, but child dedication and marriage.”

Interesting statement. Marriage and the curious baptist rite of "child dedication" are sacrements?

One wonders at his precision in discernment.

BTW, for them g00gling, there's a "Grace Point" church, and multiple "Grace Pointe" (with an "e", like "Hi Pointe". Who thinks up these things? Shakes head...) churches.

Gracepoint with an "e" dot net appears to be the one you want.

I always check for a statement of faith. GracePointe with an "e"'s "What we believe" is stark.

GracePointe Church welcomes you to experience Christianity as a journey and a way of life. Our faith is so much more than a set of dogmas and doctrines demanding total agreement. We invite you to join us as we seek to discover the ageless meaning of the gospel for our time. We experience God through creation, tradition, reason, scripture and the every-day moments of life. We believe in the liberty of individual conscience, the call of every person to live out their own journey, and the responsibility of each of us to be the express image of God in the world.

God loves us immensely and is not to be feared. At GracePointe we believe that Jesus’ life, death and resurrection teach us who we are – the beloved children of God. We love God best when we fulfill our lives’ purpose of loving ourselves and others.

If you have ever wondered if you belong, we’ve all wondered that. Our Church expresses its love in the radical hospitality of Jesus – welcoming all persons into our midst, without regard to race, age, gender, sexual orientation, or physical abilities. You are part of the human family and thus our family, God’s family. So welcome to GracePointe Church.

I might insert a rhetorical "blah blah blah", but, that's it. The sum total of their statement of belief.

They do provide a link to the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds, which is something, I guess.

Flipping through Pastor Stan's recommended reading" ("powered by Amazon, for your purchasing convenience!") makes me think this move should not come as a surprise. Catholic mystics, a lot of Frederick Buechner, Tony Campolo. Greg Boyd ("open theism"). Bart "the bitter apostate" Ehrman. Brian McLaren. Ex-archbishop Rowan Williams. Marcus Borg. (Not to say the list is all dreck. There is some good stuff. OK, C. S. Lewis, and Augustine is about all I'd want to read from their list.)

My informed guess, from looking over the site is, if you were attending this church, this move to full inclusion of the sodomites should not have come as a surprise. This is a liberal megachurch, not a conservative one.

The difference is that FWIW the LDS church moved in the right direction.

“Listening period”? “Conversation”? When God has made Himself clear on a subject, the listening period is OVER. Yet That old serpent, the devil, is forever starting up conversations and feigning confusion: “Did God really say...?”

What about homosexual men and women who have truly come to Christ, being “snatched from the fire” as it were, having to endure these WE’RE NICER THAN GOD false teachers telling them to accept what they now know is a demonic lie? A great disservice to them, to have stumbling blocks put in their paths and called stepping stones!

Which means calling someone a “reverend” who has never called themselves such or earned it is bearing false witness.

Much!
