This goes against what the Bible plainly teaches

you are correct sir, for the Bible clearly records Jesus saying “ This REPRESENTS my Body”. why don’t the Catholics understand this? they MIGHT have a point if Jesus said “This IS My Body”, but we have to go with what as you say “the Bible plainly teaches”

“the Bible clearly records Jesus saying “ This REPRESENTS my Body”.............

My bible does not say anything about ‘representing’ my body. In m version Jesus sais, “this is my body”.

Also, In John, chapter 6, it tells about Jesus speaking to his apostles and disciples. He told them that unless they ate his body and drank his blood they would not have everlasting life. The gospel clearly indicated that many did not like what they were hearing and left saddened. Then Jesus asked his apostle whether they were leaving too, and that is when Peter said, “Lord, to whom shall we turn? You have the words of everlasting life.”

Think about it. If Jesus knew that the people leaving were misunderstanding him, would he not have clarified his words? Yet, he did not. Instead it implied that Jesus was also sad as he was disappointed in them.

I don't see any translation that says, "this represents my body." On the biblehub, every translation from the Douay-Rheims to King James down to more modern versions, all say, "This IS my body." Matthew 26:26-30.

I find it all confusing, too, however. But it's pointless to argue about it.
