Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Character Studies From The Bible

Moses

New International Version (NIV)

31 During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord as you have requested. 32 Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go. And also bless me.” 33 The Egyptians urged the people to hurry and leave the country. “For otherwise,” they said, “we will all die!” 34 So the people took their dough before the yeast was added, and carried it on their shoulders in kneading troughs wrapped in clothing. 35 The Israelites did as Moses instructed and asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold and for clothing. 36 The Lord had made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered the Egyptians.

37 The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Sukkoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children. 38 Many other people went up with them, and also large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds. 39 With the dough the Israelites had brought from Egypt, they baked loaves of unleavened bread. The dough was without yeast because they had been driven out of Egypt and did not have time to prepare food for themselves.

40 Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years. 41 At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord’s divisions left Egypt. 42 Because the Lord kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the Lord for the generations to come.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Recently, an Islamic Imam in Egypt was quoted as demanding reparations from the Modern State of Israel for the "Plunder" cited in this Passage of Scripture. This was humorous on so many levels, but I will mention a few of them here!

1. He was quoting from the Hebrew Scriptures, which, in his mind, have been subrogated and eclipsed by his own "holy book", the Koran.

2. The Egyptians of the Exodus were not even ethnically related to the Egyptians of today, nor did they practice Islam.

3. The Hebrews ASKED for the property, which was freely given to them. That was probably a supernatural event, or perhaps the Egyptians just would do ANYTHING to get rid of those pesky Hebrews!

4. The Hebrews served without pay, as slaves, for 430 YEARS. This could be construed as "back-pay"!

5. The God Of Abraham instructed the Hebrews to ask for the booty. Then He inspired the Egyptians to give willingly. Does the Imam wish to question HIS decision?

6. And lastly, to quote Jay Carney, "It was a long, long time ago."

Moses now is in charge of over 800,000 (Maybe a Million!) People. This is going to have a profound effect on his character, as we shall see.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

"The Israelites Leaving Egypt"
David Roberts - 1828

_ ND he called for Moses and Aaron
by night, and said, Rise up, and get
you forth from among my people,
both ye and the children of Israel;
and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.

Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and
bless me also.
And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.

And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.

And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:

And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.

And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.

And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.

And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened; because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victual.

Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.

And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.

It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."

I’d like to thank all of you who have been praying for rain for Israel. Not long after I posted my request Israel has been getting a bit of rain and not just a day or two but several. The longer term forecaste shows even more rain! Wahoo!

And the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) level continues to climb like a rocket.

Keep up those prayers for rain until April 3rd which is Passover.
