The precedent was set long ago. The same is true with slavery, treatment of women and a whole host of other anti-democratic western ways. When I write this, I am referring to main-stream Islam. There are even Sharia courts in Islamic enclaves in America. The acid test to this is really simple. Pick any Islamic nation and look at what they really do. A jizya may not be codified in national law, but it is mandated by Sharia courts at a local level.
Over this incident in Syria we have no control.
