May the Lord uphold them and all who love and care for them.
May God grant the respiratory team the knowledge, skill and insight to do a superior job. May panic, anxiety and fear be kept to a minimum. (The presence of loved ones is very important, no matter how long the endotracheal tube is in place --- days, weeks --- explaining what is happening and speaking reassuringly, and yes, hand-holding).
May God increase the compassion of all the healers and carers. May they grow in perfect trust no matter what the outcome is.
