The blood last liquefied in a pope's presence in 1848

The blood of St Januarius liquefied in the presence of a pope for the first time since 1848 on Saturday.

The blood of the patron saint of Naples, which is normally solid, partially liquefied after Pope Francis kissed the relic during his day trip to the southern Italian city.

According to AFP, Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe of Naples showed the vial to the congregation in the city’s cathedral, saying: “The blood has half liquefied, which shows that St Januarius loves our Pope and Naples.”

This gives legitimacy to all the liberal Francis supporters thruout the World in spite of the naysayers on FR and and all those who oppose Francis...How can you argue against a miracle from God???

Has that “blood” ever been tested to see if it’s real blood and DNA?

Hand over a handful of Eucharists...I know of a lab near me where they can be tested for DNA...

If he knew THIS pope he’d spit on him.

Your comment is very unchristian-like. Maybe you should go to Confession.

I took it to be a true statement of fact.

I mean, you either believe that Peter is “The Rock” of “The Church” and this Saints captured relic blood liquifies in the presence of the Holy Lineage.................or you dont.

I get very angry at this stuff...and I’m Catholic. This shatters my belief. If it doesn’t make sense, it’s a miracle?? Ignorance....

Found one Catholic site that says it liquefies about 18 times a year.

http://news.yahoo.com/pope-franciss-half-miracle-naples-200125119.html:

“Some people say the blood even increases in mass during these displays, though the church does not officially recognise any of the relic’s alleged transformations as a miracle.”

So, it appears the Church has never officially recognized this as a miracle.

I do find it noteworthy though that, with Francis, it “half-liquefied” vs fully liquefied as with Pius IX.

It liquefies on his feast day every year. I think that is in January. But seldom on other occasions.
