it seemed the Lord used men,
who didn’t know Him
to prepare the way for our Lord’s first coming:
* Alexander the Great’s earlier conquest of the known world
made Greek a universal language,
* and later the Romans built roads for commerce
and by brute strength imposed on the world a forced peace.
But the universal language of Greek
became the language of the New Testament.
The good and relatively safe roads,
in a world empire of law and order
enabled the Lord’s disciples
to more easily spread the Gospel in the first century.
Likewise, for before the Second Coming,
perhaps the Lord is using innovators and entrepreneurs,
the creators of the internet and social media,
to give His modern disciples new and effective tools
to reach the world with the Good News, again
in the twenty-first century?
And if you read this and follow these prayer threads,
it is done through the vehicle of the internet.
Heavenly Father –
May we all be instruments to get the Word out to world and use the tools at our disposal in the twenty-first century. Give us the wisdom in how to reach out and to edify all those within our sphere of influence.
As Holy Week approaches, may we spread the seed of the Gospel and the Passover story. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, may those seeds bring forth a bumper crop of those who call upon Your Name.
Bless all those who sacrifice and put themselves in harm’s way – home and abroad – to keep us safe. Protect them from the enemy on all fronts. Give a special grace to all those who suffer and are persecuted for Your Name’s sake.
