Temple Mount Faithful sacrifices lamb in pre-Passover ritual [Isaiah 66:6]

It looked like a scene from year 200 BCE, or the end of days – yet it all played out just two days ago, on Monday, not far from the Temple Mount. Kohanim in authentic attire blessed the excited crowd, Levites sang hymns, and a young lamb was offered up as a Passover sacrifice in keeping with all the dictates of the ancient ritual.

This "dress rehearsal," staged every year by members of the Temple Mount Faithful movement, is designed to present the public with an accurate rendition of the ritual that was in practice during the time of the Temple, which they hope to erect anew.

Back then, Seder night was not merely a sumptuous meal with uncles and aunts and four cups of wine, but a production that started almost a week earlier with the selection and slaughter of one of the family's lambs, and culminated in a festive meal in memory of the night when our ancestors were rescued from slavery in Egypt.

And Monday saw the Temple Mount Faithful at it again, with the ritual enacted to the letter – from the slaughtering of the lamb, its skinning, the spilling of its blood on the specially constructed altar, the burning of some of its organs on the altar, the roasting of the meat, and through to the serving of the best bits to the Kohanim, on the backdrop of trumpeting and songs of praise.

Despite the Temple Mount Faithful's fringe-group status, attending the ritual this year were several rabbis from the mainstream of religious Zionism, including Jerusalem Chief Rabbi Arye Stern, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu and Rabbi Yaaqov Medan from the Har Etzion Yeshiva, along with Jerusalem councilman Aryeh King, who arranged funding for the event from the municipality...

Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

The Bible predicts in the last days, the Jewish religious practice of animal sacrifice for sin will be reestablished and opposed by God (along with a new Jewish Temple).

After the resurrection of Christ Jesus, the Jewish Pharisee and early Christian covert, Saul of Tarsus (Paul), showed the Jewish nation that Jesus Christ was the ultimate fulfillment (Eschaton) to animal sacrifice fulfilling Isaiah 53, Daniel 9, Psalms 22, and Zechariah 12. Jesus Christ's once and for all sacrifice would supercede and negate the previous sacrificial system and provide a new covenant (Jeremiah 31:31) between God and the Jews (with us believing Gentiles being grafted in).

Isaiah 66 shows that the reestablished animal sacrifice system is an abomination to God because of the heavy price God paid in sending His Son to die for Men's sins. It also shows that only a remnant of Israel will believe and look to Jesus (Zechariah 12 and Isaiah 53) and be saved. But the ones who do shall be established forever...

Isaiah 66:1 Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool * : where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? 2 For all those things hath mine hand made , and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look , even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. 3 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck ; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. 4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called , none did answer ; when I spake , they did not hear : but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. 5 Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said , Let the LORD be glorified : but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed . 6 A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies ... for as soon as Zion travailed , she brought forth her children. 9 Shall I bring to the birth , and not cause to bring forth ? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth , and shut the womb? saith thy God. 10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: 11 That ye may suck , and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out , and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. 12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck , ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. 13 As one whom his mother comforteth , so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. 14 And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice , and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies . 15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. 16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many . 17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD. 18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come , that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come , and see my glory. 19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. 20 And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD. 21 And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD. 22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make , shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain . 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. 24 And they shall go forth , and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die , neither shall their fire be quenched ; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

The veil was ripped in two for a reason. Then came the destruction of the Temple. When will the faithless Jews stop rejecting their Messiah and Lord?

Since the gentiles are sending Jesus packing back to the Jews (time of the gentiles is closing), God's grace will be poured back out on Israel. Zechariah 12 shows that many will turn to Jesus!

If the Jews rejection of Christ brought salvation to the gentiles, how much more the salvation of the Jews will bring righteousness to the world!!!!

i have the greatest of respect for the Temple Faithful and others, Christians and Jews, who pray for its restoration.
And if the T.Faithful feel the spiritual command to re-institute the sacrifices, more power to them. God hears their prayers for sure!
BUT
I would respectfully suggest that they examine all of the Hebrew scriptures... and not just the verses where the sacrifices were inagurated or set forth.
Because, in the 1000+ years following that early time,
further information concering God’s wishes or priorities was imparted.
Hosea 6:6, Isaiah 1:11-14, Psalm 50: 13-15, etc would seem worthy of consideration in this regard.
Blessings!

No anti-Jewish bias there. /sarc

"...Behold, I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone, and will gather them from all around, and bring them to their own land. And I will make them one nation in the land, on othe mountains of Israel. And one king shall be king over them all, and they shall be no longer two nations, and no longer divided into two kingdoms. They shall not sdefile themselves anymore twith their idols and their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions. But I will save them from all the backslidings in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them; and vthey shall be my people, and I will be their G-d. My servant David shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd. They shall walk in My rules and be careful to obey My statutes. They shall dwell in the land that I gave to My servant Jacob, where your fathers lived. They and their children and their children's children shall dwell there bforever, and David My servant shall be their prince forever. I will make a covenant of peace with them. It shall be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will set them in their land and multiply them, and will set My Sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My dwelling place shall be with them,vand I will be their G-d, and they shall be My people. Then the nations will know that I am the L-RD who sanctifies Israel, when My Sanctuary is in their midst forevermore."

I suppose you can explain away why the disciples of Jesus met in the Temple in Jerusalem until it was destroyed in 70 CE?

I suppose you can explain away why James tells Paul to not only offer the animal offerings for ending a vow, but also to pay for those same offerings for 4 others?

When we had come to Jerusalem, the brothers received us gladly. On the following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present... And they said to him, 'You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed. They are all zealous for the Law, and they have been told about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or wwalk according to our customs. What then is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. Do therefore what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow; take these men and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may shave their heads. Thus all will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also live in observance of the Law... Then Paul took the men, and the next day he purified himself along with them and went into the Temple, giving notice when the days of purification would be fulfilled and the offering presented for each one of them.

Acts 21:17-26

And the Nazirite shall shave his consecrated head at the entrance of the tent of meeting and shall take the hair from his consecrated head and put it on the fire that is under the sacrifice of the peace offering. And the priest shall take the shoulder of the ram, when it is boiled, and one unleavened loaf out of the basket and one unleavened wafer, and shall put them on the hands of the Nazirite, after he has shaved the hair of his consecration, and the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the L-RD.

Let us pray also for the faithless Jews: that almighty God may remove the veil from their hearts; so that they too may acknowledge Jesus Christ our Lord. Let us pray. Let us kneel. [pause for silent prayer] Arise. Almighty and eternal God, who dost not exclude from thy mercy even Jewish faithlessness: hear our prayers, which we offer for the blindness of that people; that acknowledging the light of thy Truth, which is Christ, they may be delivered from their darkness. Through the same our Lord Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

I'd rather pray for you.

Anyone who rejects Yeshua, IS rejecting YHVH, so ‘faithless’ seems an appropriate word.

In John 14:6, Yeshua said, “I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through the Son.”

I'd rather pray for you.

Modern Christians have an odd way of showing their "concern" for Jews. Mock their faith, then claim concerned piety for them.

Perhaps you do well to emulate Paul in Athens if you really feel concern for someone.

Many will be decieved, for God will send them strong delusions so that they may believe a lie because they did not love the truth, the truth of the gospel.

What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, as it is written:
“None is righteous, no, not one;
no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”
“Their throat is an open grave;
they use their tongues to deceive.”
“The venom of asps is under their lips.”
“Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”
“Their feet are swift to shed blood;
in their paths are ruin and misery,
and the way of peace they have not known.”
“There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Romans 3

We are saved by grace. Jesus says in John 15 we didn’t choose him, he chooses us. No one seeks God. God has hardened the hearts of the Jews that the gentiles may be grafted in. The time that .. that hardening will be removed is fast approaching.

I didn’t choose Jesus as Messiah, he chose me to know him, same for you and everyone who has received Jesus.

To say Jews who don’t accept Jesus as Messiah are unfaithful, is to make a giant leap to that conclusion and leaves out why.

I know when I’m mocking and when I’m not.

Ah, so that is how it works. We have to see into your heart to know you really mean well. Well that explains it then.

Q: Do you know of scriptures for this?

Isaiah 66 shows that the reestablished animal sacrifice system....

Q: Where do you see in Isaiah 66 that it is talking about a reestablishment of animal sacrifices and not talking about the animal sacrifices of the time?

From the sin of Adam to the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross, an animal based sacrificial temporary system for the atonement of sins was established. The system was a foreshadow of the New Covenant to come.This system was not evil, rather absolutely required for forgiveness of sins. Most people, like Cain, Muslims, Hindus, and all those who think they are good enough without God reject that their sins require that something must die for us to live. Since Jesus, the old system has been deprecated. It is evil, now that Jesus fulfilled it because to accept it is to deny the sufficiency of Jesus sacrifice!
Isaiah 66, by virtually all scholarly accounts is Eschatological - about the end times.

I suppose you think that being Jewish gives you the freedom to mock the faith of other Jews. Double shame on you.

Notice that I did not mock your faith, but rather called you out on your disrespectful words, couched in what you think is piety.
