Mary’s Miracles Always Point to Christ

And we believe.

For me, as a Protestant, I find no other way to explain these miracles than to say, flatly, that there’s something about Mary. Something incredible. Something blessed. If God doesn’t work through the intercession of the saints, if Mary was no one more special than a fourteen year old Jewish virgin, then why is her intercession the cause of these profound miracles? Why, if she is not, as Catholics assert, first amongst the saints, would God use her in this way? It would, in the end, truly be pulling the wool over the eyes of Catholics if God used Mary in this way and let us go on, happily, believing in her special place in the kingdom.

If Mary isn’t who Catholics say she is, and if the saints aren’t to be venerated (asked to pray for us in the same way I ask my living, Christian friends to pray for me) then why would God allow her to appear, in this way, to mislead Catholics. Because, ultimately, it would be misleading if she appeared like this and she wasn’t someone special. Would God allow that? Would God use that? As a Protestant, I struggled for answers here. It would be, utterly impossible, however, for Satan to be working in this way. I think that’s clear enough. Satan could never, and would never, use anything that would lead so many millions of people to a relationship with Christ—and that is precisely what these Marian miracles do.

Here I was, enjoying the Easter détente, hoping that no one would break the cease-fire until tomorrow....

"I think it’s safe to say that Jesus’s profound theological observation—that Satan can’t work against himself—can be applied to the context of modern day miracles as well."

It's simply an assertion that Satan can't do this. Why couldn't he? What would stop him from staging a possession and exorcism if it suited his purpose?

"Personally, and, obviously, there’s a lot of compelling stuff in here."

These aren't compelling stories at all. They simply reveal a lack of skepticism.

An Angel of the first rank was sent from heaven to say to the Theotokos: Rejoice! And perceiving You, 0 Lord, taking bodily form, he stood in awe and with his bodiless voice cried aloud to her such words as these:
Rejoice, through whom joy shall shine forth;
Rejoice, through whom the curse shall vanish.
Rejoice, fallen Adam’s restoration;
Rejoice, redemption of Eve’s tears.
Rejoice, height that is too difficult for human thought to ascend;
Rejoice, depth that is too strenuous for Angels’ eyes to perceive
Rejoice, for you are the throne of the King;
Rejoice, for you hold him Who sustains everything.
Rejoice, star that shows forth the Sun;
Rejoice, womb in which God became incarnate.
Rejoice, through whom creation is renewed;
Rejoice, through whom the Creator becomes an infant.
Rejoice, O Bride unwedded.

Albert Little is a Catholic convert, husband, and father-to-be. In his spare time he reads books, looks at birds through binoculars, and blogs at The Cordial Catholic.

Yet, he repeatedly states the LIE that he is a Protestant!

More tripe from the Liar-in-chief (or Deceiver-in-chief!)...

Nope. It looks like Albert has found his Mother, unlike apostates who have knowingly turned their backs on Her.

“Miracles, like those connected to the appearance or the intercession of the Virgin Mary, cannot possibly be explained as work of Satan.”

They can depending upon what “Mary” says/does not say. Satan absolutely masquerades as a servant of righteousness, all the way up to proclaiming himself “god”. Satan using Mary as a foil is a given, seeing how easy it is to manipulate people with her imagery, symbolism, and high character. What kind of creep would speak against Mary or argue with words she might reveal?

Protestants get a bad rap here, though I honestly don’t think it’s deserved. I’ve never met one who had a beef with Mary, nor held her in low regard. The issue for Protestants is paying her IMPROPER regard, going beyond the written word concerning her. I’m sure Satan loves the discord he achieves with his masquerade.

(1) For honesty’s sake it should be “PAST Protestant.”
(2) People are being led to a “Christ” that requires Mary as a front woman, which is quite different from the explicit direct presence of Christ that marked biblical times.

This dispute is not going to vanish any time soon.

From my stinkin’ evangelical bible viewpoint, it’s a matter of a God who has suddenly forgotten a large chunk of what used to be His direct compassion and lovingkindness.

Where is the heed to the commentary of David who spoke of the (agape) love of Jonathan as being better than that of women, and no they were not queers. Better. BETTER!!!

This issue did not appear in a vacuum. It appeared with other church problems, such as yielding to the temptation to believe secular government can somehow be baptized into Christ.

I’m not going to multiply conspiracy theories. It’s just something that the facts militate against.

No, she's not. Who said she was?

She just happens to be the Mother of God.

Mary asked for Juan to petition the local bishop to have chapel build in her name.

And there's your sign.....

Now here is more of what the spirit said....

Speaking to him in Nahuatl, his native language, she said to him, "Juanito, my son, where are you going?"—"Noble Lady, my Queen, I am going to the Mass in Mexico City to hear the divine things that the priest teaches us there."—"I want you to know for certain, my dear son, that I am the perfect and always Virgin MARY, Mother of the True God from Whom all life comes, the Lord of all things, Creator of Heaven and Earth. I greatly desire that a church be built in my honor, in which I will show my love, compassion, and protection. I am your Mother full of mercy and love for you and all those who love Me, trust in Me, and have recourse to Me. I will hear their complaints and I will comfort their affliction and their sufferings. So that I might show all My love, go now to the bishop in Mexico City and tell him that I am sending you to make known to him the great desire I have to see a church dedicated to me built here." Mary is not the "ever virgin" as she and Joseph had kids of their own.

Would the Mary of the Bible really ask for a church to be built in her name??

Are we to trust in Mary or Jesus.....there is a difference.

No mention of following Jesus or that He died for our sins.

The following is from catholic online.com

The first lesson is that God has chosen Mary to lead us to Jesus.

With no Biblical support for this the catholic church continues this lie. On the entire website for this article Jesus is mentioned twice....and neither in the actual article about the "vision". One time as noted above and the other regarding a video on a homily.

It is the Holy Spirit who moves us to believe.

*** Her body has not decayed. For how long now? 200 years.***

Nothing new. Napoleon was buried without embalming, yet when he was dug up years later his body had not decayed.

It was attributed to arsenic poisoned wine he had been drinking over several years.

Maybe St Catherine was also embalmed with arsenic.

This is exactly what Catholics have been saying since I joined FR over 9 years ago. I am thrilled that one of you finally understands that.

Maybe St Catherine was also embalmed with arsenic.

And maybe the Starship Enterprise went back in time and put her into a stasis chamber. Wait, wait, I got it: Maybe the "Flash" made her molecules vibrate so fast that she can't decay.

I will prove my theories after you prove yours.

Who the heck ever heard of embalming with arsenic?
