Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Although this Passage is often labeled as "Samuel's Farewell Speech", he is not really saying "Goodbye" to the People of Israel. They clamored for a king, and God has given them one, but that does not obliterate Samuel's Prophetic Office. It also does not absolve the People from their responsibility to God. "Church and State" may have been split into two different entities, but The Law of God will always be Over and Above the Law of Man. This principle is echoed in both the Gospels and the Book of Acts. We are to render due respect to earthly authorities up to the point when they go against the Law of God. "Render unto Caesar, that which is Caesar's, and render unto God that which is God's" has been the order since creation.
This is not the end of Samuel!
