"I feel like saying something that may sound controversial or even heretical. But there is someone who knows that despite our differences we are one. It is he who is persecuting us. It is he that is persecuting Christians today; he who is anointing us with the blood of martyrdom, knows that Christians are disciples of Christ. That we are one, that we are brothers! He doesn't care if they are Evangelicals, Orthodox, Lutherans, Catholics or Apostolic. He doesn't care! They are Christians."

In a discussion between persons of various Christian denominations and Catholics, why do you insist on posting inane teachings of a heretical non-christian group of misguided pagans

Folks...

You just can NOT make this stuff up!

Terycarl; SHAME!

Now you've offended a group whom you really need to proselytize!

They already have the hierarchy leadership thing down and fancy church buildings and all.

A few tweaks of the theology and you've got another soul headed to purgatory!

I find it incredibly sad and telling when I read comments like "it makes one proud and think that one has no need of God’s further assistance" or "they think once their saved they can just keep on sinning". Those types of comments show a total lack of understanding and familiarity with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and His influence on our thinking. No truly born again Spirit filled Christian would desire to go on sinning against God. No truly born again Spirit filled Christian would not desire a closer walk and assistance from God. If the Catholic Church calls the belief in eternal assurance a "sin of presumption" then they deny the very words of God and have no faith in what He has promised.

Another thing I find sad and telling is any attempt to give credit for attaining salvation to man's actions. Make no mistake about it. If one thinks that it's man who even so much as "holds on to faith" then it's by merit that salvation is attained.

Think about it people. When making comments or trying to interpret what scripture is saying are we taking the credit or giving all credit and glory to God?

There’s a time and a place for everything. I’m not saying Francis is a great or even a good Pope. (What Catholic on here even tries to defend the man and what he says and does anymore anyway? Not me, despite any protestations to the contrary I’m not a “fan” of his).

But to criticize him in a forum such as this, where there are more than a few who seemingly spend an inordinate amount of time looking for things with which to besmirch the Church, quite frankly plays right into their hands.

You never thought for a second that such discussion may be better suited for an entirely (or at least mostly) Catholic audience? Never thought that this might be fodder for the obstinate?

Do what you want though I’m done. Defending the Church’s dogmas against the willfully ignorant on one front and another front of “Catholics” who seemingly can’t wait to post something bad about Francis. Amongst the two, I’m supposed to believe some lurker somewhere is gonna say, “Hey, that Catholicism, that really looks good”. Yeah right.

It’s a waste of time. Congrats, you win.

Another thing I find sad and telling is any attempt to give credit for attaining salvation to man's actions.

Below is Jesus Christ talking. He's describing the judgement. Can you tell us from the scripture below what was the reason Jesus is allowing these people into the Kingdom of God?

Matt 25
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Continuing on with that scripture, Jesus again says He will cast people into everlasting punishment... Can you tell us, by what is contained in the scripture below, why these people were cast out?

Matt 25:
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

According to Jesus Christ, does a person's action have anything to do with their being saved?

Jesus alone holds the keys to salvation. No one can earn it. But you have to qualify for it by following His commandments or He will not give it.

Who, in this group, cares what Mormans teach??

LOL. It's hard to figure out whose beliefs are farther from the bible.
