There are too many clergy who are not followers of Christ, but are of the world. I lay the blame for the mess we are in at their feet.
St Michael, defend us.
This makes my heart sink to the floor.
Vatican Ii led to a revolt against Rome. Another manifestation of the spirit of nationalism, of choosing the tribe over the Church.
Very good analysis. The wish to strongly believe in the Lord and in His Church has been weakened by three political movements: the rejection of Pope Benedict XVI’s critique, the approval of abortion, and the approval of heretical marriage. Sociologist Christian Smith at Chapel Hill wrote how the new religion of young people is as follows:
“God is real. God wants us to be good, nice and fair. The goal of life is to feel good about oneself.”
Thus, it is easy to become lazy and approve of heresy. The problem is that heretics are unreasonable, lazy and rude.
Two words: Skellig Michael.
**Death of the Irish Church?**
I don’t think so.
I’m currently reading “The Ecclesiastical History of the English Church” by Bede, completed in 731 or 732 AD. It is interesting that he has recorded how the Irish Church was influential in keeping Christianity in England, Wales, and Scotland. And how there were times when the Irish Church went its own way in ‘doctrine’ that was not inline with what Rome wanted. An example is calculating when Easter occurs.
Thus I’m not that surprised at the recent election, however, the Irish Church itself, did NOT endorse voting for homosexuals to ‘marry.’
The cafeteria Catholics, speak. And then destroy. And later, they may get a free tour of hell.
If the Catholic Church is only a series of proscriptions then She is nothing. But she is the Bride of Christ and stands for something greater than a parochial concern for secular mores. It is much more concerning that people don’t know Christ than that they voted yes on gay marriage. We don’t need a monolithic conservative voting bloc. We need converted hearts.
...and the gay pope was AWOL.
