Dietrich Von Hildebrand, one of the greatest Catholic theologians of the 20th Century that Pius XII called a 20th century “doctor of the Church”, believed that after Pius X’s condemnation of the heresy of Modernism, its proponents merely went underground. He would say that they then took a much more subtle and practical approach.
History repeats itself as we are witnessing with the last menace to the Church, the Marxist liberation theology.
In an interview to Dietrich wife, Dr. Alice Von Hildebrand, also a reputed philosopher and theologian, she stated: “It is a matter of public record, for instance, that Bella Dodd, the ex-Communist who reconverted to the Church, openly spoke of the Communist Party’s deliberate infiltration of agents into the seminaries. She told my husband and me that when she was an active party member, she had dealt with no fewer than four cardinals within the Vatican “who were working for us.”
Professor Alice Von Hildebrand mentioned two books that were published in 1998 and 2000 by an Italian priest, Don Luigi Villa of the diocese of Brescia, who at the request of Padre Pio has devoted many years of his life to the investigation of the possible infiltration of both Freemasons and Communists into the Church. My husband and I met Don Villa in the sixties. He claims that he does not make any statement that he cannot substantiate. When Paulo Sesto Beato? (1998 “Paul VI beatified?”) was published the book was sent to every single Italian bishop. None of them acknowledged receipt; none challenged any of Don Villa’s claims.
When bishop Bosio died, Mons. Loris Capovilla was made bishop of Chieti and therefore, the superior of Luigi. Father Luigi went to see the new bishop and they talked for over one hour trying bishop Capovilla to convince father Luigi not to write any more articles against communism since the Soviets will win and we must be in good terms with Moscow.
In this book, Father Luigi relates something that no ecclesiastical authority has refuted or asked to be retracted – even though he names particular personalities in regard to the incident. It pertains to the rift between Pope Pius XII and the then Bishop Montini (the future Paul VI) who was his Undersecretary of State. Pius XII, conscious of the threat of Communism, which in the aftermath of World War II was dominating nearly half of Europe, had prohibited the Vatican staff from dealing with Moscow.
To his dismay, he was informed one day through the Bishop of Upsala (Sweden) that his strict order had been contravened. The Pope resisted giving credence to this rumor until he was given incontrovertible evidence that Montini had been corresponding with various Soviet agencies.
Meanwhile, Pope Pius XII (as had Pius XI) had been sending priests clandestinely into Russia to give comfort to Catholics behind the Iron Curtain. Every one of them had been systematically arrested, tortured, and either executed or sent to the gulag. Eventually a Vatican mole was discovered: Alighiero Tondi, S.J., who was a close advisor to Montini. Tondi was an agent working for Stalin whose mission was to keep Moscow informed about initiatives such as the sending of priests into the Soviet Union.
In the second part of the 20th century the greatest threat to the Church was the massive Communist infiltration, especially in Latin America.
Like outposts of “Tondi’s” moles they stormed through all levels of the Church under the cover of Marxist liberation theology. We witnessed how the Marxist infiltration exploded in the 1960 and 70’s among many of the religious orders and diocesan clergy, inciting armed revolution all around Latin America with the support of the Cuban Stalinist regime, under the false pretense of liberating the oppressed and exploited masses. They share full responsibility for rivers of blood that flooded Latin America.
The Marxist liberation theology was the spearhead of the Communist infiltration of the Church and when it was unmasked by John Paul II and Benedict XVI they entered in hibernation until Pope Francis was elected and they resurged with strong impetus reaching the zenith of the Marxist infiltration under his papacy.
As soon as Pope Francis took power he rescued from the trash bin of History the Marxist liberation theology after it was proscribed by John Paul II and Benedict XVI. Now Francis is embracing another of the Communist front movements, the hoax of the global warming. Francis called the most radical of the Marxist liberation leaders, Leonardo Boff, who was silenced by H.H. Pope John Paul II, as one of his adviser for his encyclical that tries to give moral support to the global warming fraud, but instead Francis destroys his credibility and demeans the respect for the Catholic Church.
Francis is the first and only Pope that has been against the Magisterium of the Church on the constant condemnation of communism and opened the doors of the Vatican to the theologians who corrupted the Gospels with the doctrine of Marx. Most importantly, the Pope has backed his words with actions. During his visit to Brazil in 2013, the Pope held meetings with Liberation Theologians on preparing a new doctrine for the church.

Father Gustavo Gutierrez, father of the liberation theology embraced by Francis, explained: “What we mean here regarding liberation theology is the involvement of the revolutionary political process”. (10) Gutiérrez also explains the sense of this involvement: “Only by going beyond a society divided into classes. (…) Only eliminating private property of the wealth created by human work, will we be able to lay down the bases for a more just society. It is for this that the efforts to project a new society in Latin America are tending more and more towards socialism”.

In Pope Francis’ call for “a bold cultural revolution” to confront climate change, he is using classic Marxist terms (Mao’s Cultural Revolution and Marxist liberation theology) to promote a political agenda aimed toward the advance of “collectivism, redistribution of wealth, and global government.”
What Paul VI called smoke from Satan entering in the Church, now under Francis the smoke became a three alarm fire.
