Former Archdiocesan Cathedral Musical Director: Why I’m Leaving the Greek Orthodox Church
The Pappas Post ^ | 06-24-2015 | Gus Chrysson

Church has always been an important part of my life, and it will continue to be the central expression of my faith in God, and the core of my spiritual life. Attending Liturgy was always the pinnacle of my week, and I have virtually every word of the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom committed to memory as a result of years as a church musician. My experience of church is beginning to take a different shape, however, after several years of difficult and painful discernment. I am now leaving the Greek Orthodox Church, and continuing to live out my Christianity as an Anglican, in the Episcopal Church in the United States.

Sad, but I give points for having the integrity to move on if he cannot accept the teachings of Christ and His Church. We all struggle with the passions in one form or another. Indeed his sins are no worse than mine. The difference is that we expect the Church to help us overcome our vices, not bless them. The door is always open if he chooses to repent and come home.

Question: can we legitimately call the Episcopal Church Christian?

If he is a Sodomite and can’t keep it in his pants, he has gone where he needs to go. The Religion formed on adultery and murder.

He is someone who beieves reality is different according to the organization of which one is a member. Episcopalians go to Heaven or Hell wfor different reasons than do Quakers. God's has many departments that accept or condemn humans based on the church to which they belonged in life. Each sect or religion has its own universe and its own morality.

That is the necessary belief of people who hop churches to find one that "accepts" their preferred sets of sins, assuming that they actually believe anything beyond finding a compatible group of people to tell them they are just fine the way they are on this earth. The second group are inherently atheists.

i given him credit for following his beliefs and finding a congregation more amenable to his beliefs, rather than becoming an agitator or rabble rouser like we have in the Catholic Church, like the groups calling for priestesses, divorce, etc.

He makes it all about him. This is “I’m taking my ball and going home” so typical.

I read the article.

He’s suffering from Same Sex Attraction Disorder, a temptation to commit the sin of sodomy. Rather than entrust his life to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he heads off to a congregation which teaches that sodomy is not a sin.

May God grant him the grace of repentance and conversion.

He’s mistaken.

He needs our prayers.

Thanks, I thought so. I have not closely followed the theological changes of the episcopalians, other than to note that they now have gay male and female priests and seem very liberal, and I think a few of their bishops have questioned Christ’s divinity. Then again, that commie priest from Chicago probably does, too, and that doesn’t mean the Catholic church is not Christian. Why don’t these leftwing churches just go ahead and admit that they are social clubs, not churches, so we don’t have to pretend to be in communion with them as fellow Christians?

Because they can attack the body of Christ more easily by pretending to be churches. These are the wolves in sheep's clothing.
