Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Rehoboam, by all accounts, should have been the legitimate ruler of the united kingdom of Israel upon the death of his father Solomon. But God had other plans. Solomon had betrayed the sacred trust given to him by God. Not only did he disobey God with the amassing of wealth, slaves, women, and horses, he was also influenced by his many foreign wives to worship false gods and erect idols and sacrificial altars to them. The miracle is that God did not "ZOT" Solomon on the spot, but allowed him to live out his days as king. The punishment would be the rending of the kingdom, under the rule of Solomon's son Rehoboam.

Even this punishment was brought upon the new king by his own actions. Having the advantage of his father's wise old advisers, he threw away their sage advice and sought instead the opinions of his "buddies" who sound like a real bunch of jerks. They had no experience in government, diplomacy, or politics, yet Rehoboam took their advice and succeeded in alienating his entire country!

Jeroboam, the subject of today's study, merely saw the vacuum in leadership and came to fill it.

God makes it clear that this is part of His plan. Sometimes the most dire situations can cause despair, and seem to be outside of the Sovereign Will of God. Remember though, He sees the end from the beginning, and the beginning from the end, and is not bound by time and space like we are.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Ironically, Solomon said - There’s nothing new under the sun!

And we see history repeating itself.

Joining in prayer, left that other site, for Israel, our beloved America, and all God’s people. May godly leader emerge and guide us back in the paths of righteousness.
