In 1 Thess 4:1-8, God draws a line in the sand for Christians. Those who reject the command against sexual immorality has rejected God. It is a fantasy to think there will never be division or sectarianism. Jesus said He didn’t come to bring peace but a sword.
So we have to put up with not only the possibility that the same arguments used in support of gay marriage not only can be used in support of polygamy but can also be used to promote religious sectarianism among Christians?
BTW, do you want “the state” wielding a sword in the name or in the power or authority of religion?
Can “the sate” enforce religious matters, and if so, which religion do they enforce? Catholicism, Protestantism, Greek Orthodox, Ethiopic Christian?
I mean, there are many Bibles: Roman Catholic, Protestant (both the initial one containing the Catholic books and the ones following which do not include them) the Greek Orthodox Bible and the Ethiopic Bible - they all have a differing number of books with in them.
