Is 7-year biblical 'Tribulation' about to start? (Shemitah, blood moons and signs)

Millions of investors concerned about the Shemitah cycle are watching stock markets and economies in these dark days of September.

Will the Dow crash, they wonder, like it did in the past two Shemitah years, 2001 and 2008, or will the dollar collapse and take the U.S. economy down with it?

Not Mark Biltz.

The founder and pastor of El Shaddai Ministries is watching for something much bigger.

The start of the Tribulation.

Biltz, author of “Blood Moons: Decoding the Imminent Heavenly Signs,” is not predicting that the Tribulation will start with the beginning of a new seven-year cycle at sundown on Sunday, Sept. 13. But if it doesn’t start, then he says it likely won’t for at least another seven years.

That’s because God operates according to seasons that follow the biblical Old Testament feast days, he said.

“The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is trying to get the attention of the entire world, and His people in particular, of the need to get on His calendar cycle.

One of the ways He does that is through signs in the heavens, including lunar and solar eclipses, which of course have to do with calendars. A total lunar eclipse or “blood moon” occurs on Sept. 28, which is the Feast of Tabernacles. It’s the last of four blood moons, all falling on Jewish feast days, over the past 18 months, a rare “tetrad” of lunar eclipses.

And it’s not like one has to search very long for signs that the Tribulation could be about to commence. The Shemitah (or Shmita) is the Sabbath year required under Hebrew law. During the Shemitah year, the land is to lie fallow and most agricultural activity is forbidden.

The Jewish civil new year, Rosh Hashanah, which starts at sundown Sunday, Sept. 13, begins a new seven-year cycle.

There was a significant solar eclipse today, Sept. 13, that began almost exactly at the South Pole when a crescent sun rose above the horizon. Here is a good animated video of the eclipse: timeanddate.com

On the Jewish ecclesiastical new year, March 20, there was a solar eclipse that rose almost exactly at the North Pole.

I don’t think God restricts his actions according to the phase of the moon, a solar eclipse, our calendar (which we got from the ancient pagans), the Dow Jones Industrial Average, what numerology trick you can use to add something up to get a “hidden” meaning out of a Bible verse, grabbing a dozen Bible verses out of context and making them the center of one’s theology. All of this sounds like a slightly Christianized form of astrology.

Day and hour, maybe, but Jesus did give us the warning signs of the seasons and times and told us to be alert and recognize them.

The bible never says the "Tribulation" is seven years. Daniel's "70th week" is understood to be a seven year period. Christ returns "mid-week".

The bible calls that period leading up to Christ's return "tribulation". And it calls the short period immediately preceeding his return "Great Tribulation". (Matthew 24:9-28).

The bible calls the period commencing with Christ's return his "Wrath." This wrath is described in Revelation as 7 trumpets (Rev 8:10--Rev 11:18) and 7 vials of judgment (Rev 15:1--16:21).

The anti-Christ has not yet been revealed. This is sine qua non event that commences the start of Daniel's 70th week.

This Shemitah comes within a series of eclipses referred to as a blood moon tetrad.

The blood moon tetrad repeats on an average of about 400 years.

The Tetrad of Four Blood Moons: A series of four consecutive total lunar eclipses, with six full moons in between, and no intervening partial lunar eclipses, all falling on consecutive holy days of Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles. This rare event has happened only seven times, so far, since 1 A.D. and has sometimes coincided with important events in Jewish history.

• The solar eclipse happened on the Hebrew Ecclesiastical New Year (the 1st of Nisan), which began March 20 at sunset.

And the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) is the only Hebrew feast ordained by God that is 25 hours in length...a day and an hour.

I think you have to admit that the symmetry with the current series of eclipses is epic and extraordinary.

I think that if the sun were turned into darkness, it would be dark, like, totally dark, and we’d all quickly freeze. (I believe my science-y son said in about a day.)

I think if the moon turned to blood, it would be blood. What you’re calling a “blood moon” is no more actually blood than a “blue moon” is actually blue.
