Vatican sacks priest after he comes out as gay
Yahoo ^ | October 3, 2015 | Philip Pullella

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Vatican dismissed a priest from his post in a Holy See office on Saturday after he told a newspaper he was gay and urged the Catholic Church to change its stance on homosexuality.

Monsignor Krzystof Charamsa was removed from his position at the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, the Vatican's doctrinal arm where he had worked since 2003, a statement said.

Charamsa, 43, and a Polish theologian, announced he was gay and had a partner in a long interview with Italy's Corriere della Sera newspaper on Saturday.

He later held a news conference with his partner, a Spanish man, and gay activists at a Rome restaurant. They had planned a demonstration in front of the Vatican but changed the venue several hours before it was due to have started.

[The Vatican] said giving the interview and the planned demonstration was "grave and irresponsible" given their timing on the eve of a synod of bishops who will discuss family issues, including how to reach out to gays.

It said his actions would subject the synod, which Pope Francis is due to open on Sunday, to "undue media pressure".

The issue of homosexuality and the Church has dominated the aftermath of the pope's visit to the United States last week.

[snip]

The Catholic Church teaches that homosexuality is not a sin but that homosexual acts are.

The Vatican has been embarrassed by controversy over the pope's meeting with Kim Davis, a Kentucky county clerk who went to jail in September for refusing to honor a U.S. Supreme Court ruling and issue same-sex marriage licences.

I completely agree. Public repudiation of his vows should result in the immediate --- immediate---- termination of all his priestly faculties by whoever is his immediate ecclesiastical superior, and after that his laicization as soon as they can run it through the clerical/canonical channels.

This statement from Lombardi is flaccid, almost apologetic. Like this bold sodomite was booted from CDF because he was a bit too forward, not a good team player.

“Vatican sacks priest after he comes out as gay a homosexual.
Just had to make that correction”.

Vatican sacks priest after he tells the world he’s a practicing sodomite, has a boyfriend he lives with, and likes to have anal sex with him.

Just had to make that correction.

He was probably recruited by Free Masons who have been trying to destroy the Catholic Church for just about as long as it’s existed.

No, this is not a good analogy, because the Church uses the word "homosexuality" to mean an orientation or tendency, not necessarily expressed in action or even inwardly embraced by the affected individual. In other words, simply having this inward tendency, but resisting it virtuously, would be blameless. The Catechism nevertheless calls the orientation, itself, "objectively disordered." (Catechism LINK)

Homosexual acts, however, are termed "acts of grave depravity,", and the Catechism (same LINK) adds that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered. They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved."

That's about as clear as it could get.

"... Church also demonstrates its position that abortion is not a sin..."

You are quite mistaken. The Catholic Church has been very explicitly against abortion since the Didache (approx. 95 A.D.), the first catechism of the Catholic Church --- and continuously through Pope Francis.

For those who might have missed:

Didache ("The Lord's Teaching to the Heathen by the Twelve Apostles"):

There are two ways, one of life and one of death; and between the two ways there is a great difference. Now, this is the way of life:…

The second commandment of the Teaching: Do not murder; do not commit adultery; do not corrupt boys; do not fornicate; do not steal, do not practice magic; do not go in for sorcery; do not murder a child by abortion or kill a newborn infant.

Continuously to the present pontificate:

“All life has inestimable value even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces of God’s creation, made in his own image, destined to live forever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect.”

— Pope Francis supporting Catholics taking part in annual Day for Life in Britain and Ireland July 28, 2013

“Let’s say ‘Yes’ to life and ‘No’ to death.”

Pope Francis supporting Catholics taking part in March for Life in France Jan. 19, 2014

“Every child who, rather than being born, is condemned unjustly to being aborted, bears the face of Jesus Christ, bears the face of the Lord, who even before he was born, and then just after birth, experienced the world’s rejection."
Pope Francis to Catholic healthcare professionals and gynecologists Sept. 20, 2013

“Unfortunately, what is thrown away is not only food and dispensable objects, but often human beings themselves, who are discarded as ‘unnecessary.’ For example, it is frightful even to think there are children, victims of abortion, who will never see the light of day."

Pope Francis speech to diplomats Jan. 13, 2014

“Among the vulnerable for whom the church wishes to care with particular love and concern are unborn children, the most defenseless and innocent among us. Nowadays efforts are made to deny them their human dignity and to do with them whatever one pleases, taking their lives and passing laws preventing anyone from standing in the way of this. …Precisely because this involves the internal consistency of our message about the value of the human person, the church cannot be expected to change her position on this question… It is not ‘progressive’ to try to resolve problems by eliminating a human life…”

Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium #213-214

“The victims of this [throwaway] culture are precisely the weakest and most fragile human beings — the unborn, the poorest, the sick and elderly, the seriously handicapped, etc. — who are in danger of being ‘thrown away,’ expelled from a system that must be efficient at all costs."

Pope Francis speech to a delegation from the Dignitatis Humanae Institute Dec. 7, 2013

“We are called to reach out to those who find themselves in the existential peripheries of our societies and to show particular solidarity with the most vulnerable of our brothers and sisters: the poor, the disabled, the unborn ....”

Pope Francis message to the 10th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches dated Oct. 4, 2013

The fight against abortion is “part of the battle in favor of life from the moment of conception until a dignified, natural end. This includes the care of the mother during pregnancy, the existence of laws to protect the mother postpartum, and the need to ensure that children receive enough food, as well as providing healthcare throughout the whole length of life…”

…On science being aware it is human life: “A pregnant woman isn’t carrying a toothbrush in her belly, or a tumor…We are in the presence of a human being.”

In book of interviews “Pope Francis: His Life in His Own Words”

“The right to life is the first human right. Abortion is killing someone that cannot defend him or herself.”

Pope Francis with Rabbi Abraham Skorka in book “On Heaven and Earth”

"Caring for life from the beginning to the end. What a simple thing, what a beautiful thing..So, go forth and don't be discouraged. Care for life. It's worth it."

Pope Francis, from a homily celebrating Aug. 31 feast of St. Raymond Nonnatus, patron saint of expectant mothers.

The explanation for why Wuerl, Dolan, O’Malley, Cupich, DiNardo, Chaput, Gomez, McElroy, and almost all other bishops give Communion to abortionists is extremely simple:

1) some of them are pro-abortion;
2) cowardice;
3) government money;
4) threats.

Sen. Patrick Leahy threatened a bishop to his face that if he (Leahy) and other abortionists were denied Communion, then he would drag bishop after bishop before the Senate for YEARS of questioning about their handling of sexual abusers.

All these twitters of the Pope mean nothing. He appoints bishops who he knows IN ADVANCE are staunchly committed to giving Communion to abortionists. McElroy was famous PRIMARILY for an article in AMERICA attacking Cardinal Burke and promoting Communion for abortionists. Cupich has instructed us that we should be no more bothered by abortion and vivisection than by unemployment.

This is the Pope’s REAL message. The message that actually gets through.

Arthur, the entire hierarchy worldwide(with exceptions that I know of which could be counted on one hand) is in open violation of Canon 915. This involves permitting open, manifest, unrepentant, grave sinners (e.g. the pro-abortion pols) to commit further mortal sins by sacrilegious reception of Holy Communion. That is utterly disgraceful, and as I think you know, I join you in saying this is objectively grave matter, the kind of stuff that is damnable.

(Lurkers, let that sink in: the entire hierarchy worldwide.)

That does not men, however, that their entire hierarchy is pro-abortion. It may very well mean their understanding of what the sacrilegious reception of Communion is, and does, is stupefyingly superficial.

Some bishops are pro-abortion. By which I mean they just don’t think it’s an issue. Cupich has made himself clear. What is shown in the PP videos—and abortion in general—is no more “appalling” than unemployment, or the “plight of the undocumented.” Bernardin was pro-abortion.

I remember a saint who was dedicated to the Poor Souls revealed that when a priest goes to hell his thumbs and forefingers burn brighter than any other part of his body.

To the uneducated, those are the very fingers a priest uses to hold Our Lord during the Consecration.

The headline is purposefully inflammatory. It’s not his gayness that would cause him to be fired; it’s his breaking his vows of celebacy and organizing a protest against Catholic teaching.

The stupid; it hurts.

You make an important point. There should be a distinction between the act and the person, but it’s tempting to think otherwise when faced with the wrath from the other side.
