As one looks at the articles and comments found on Free Republic, you can see the complete and utter loathing, disgust, and outright hatred towards Muslims. It is viewed as a justified hatred, built on the actions Muslims have taken for decades against Americans and others. Notable attacks include the Beirut bombing of the Marine barracks, Beslan in Russia, the recent San Bernadino attack, and of course 9/11.
However, I was challenged by a few friends recently as to how a professing Christian can have a deep-seated hatred for Muslims. They reminded me of Jesus' command to love one another. They pointed out that He wasn't just talking about Christians loving other Christians (which can be difficult sometimes), but about Christians loving people in their communities...even those one may count as an enemy.
It's been pointed out to me that Christ's death on the cross wasn't just for me...it was also for the Muslim. He wants them to come to know Him as their Savior just as much as He wants us...or me...to. The problem they see is that someone won't want to come to know Christ if those who say they're His followers are in your face telling you that they hate you.
When I point out to them about the danger that Muslims have time and time again posed to society, they argue that Jesus didn't care if they were dangerous- He wanted His followers to love them, And, if that love had an element of risk associated with it, His followers were to love them anyway. A reminder of what that looks like can be seen in the story of the Christian men who ended up martyred by the Auca tribe in South America.
In any case, what they said is making me think. I want to know how one can reconcile a hatred for Muslims with Jesus' command to love people. It does seem that you can't do one and do the other as well. Yes...I am aware I may very well be opening up a huge can of worms, but this has been bugging me and I wanted to discuss it with my fellow FReepers.

Look, I guess I’m not a very good Christian, because I have no use for Muslims nor the thing in the White House. I understand that Jesus died for everyone, including Muslims, and we are to bring the Gospel to them....when and if it is possible.
But it doesn’t seem possible to do so when they are raving, slavering animals who will run at you with a machete and take off your head in broad daylight in the middle of the street. Jesus didn’t expect us to be sheep to the slaughter.
IMO Islam is a demonic cult, and its adherents are possessed by demons. It’s hard to lump them in with the rest of humanity.
I hate them (Muslims). If they, the Muslims, believe in Islam and all it teaches, then yeah I hate them as much as I hate their ideology. Maybe more, because their ideology is nothing if it has no followers. The followers are the ones who act on what the ideology promotes.

Exactly. The only peace in Islam is because all those who oppose have been murdered or converted/brought to heel.
And sadly, the majority in this country seem to be weak when it comes to this.

That’s a fact and one that is completely missed by the brainless GOP faction who think that Barky is just another Democrat playing at politics like they do.
I don’t think many are aware and those who are aware think it won’t happen here or to them/those they care about.
Conservatives, republicans and libertarians, aren’t getting the message across to the public. We have no presence in the media (tv, movies, news, talk shows) or in education (public, private, parochial).
Our schools are teaching (and have been teaching for 40+ years) everything the Left is promoting. TV shows and movies have been promoting the Left Agenda (socialism/communism/globalism) since forever and we have no alternative that gets any traction.
As for education, the left agenda realized that high school students weren’t malleable so they tried with middle school students. Middle school students tend to be a bit more malleable. But, not enough. So then they went for elementary - and early elementary and pre-school...and they are succeeding there. The TV shows, etc. that are geared toward early elementary and elementary students are also succeeding in their message.
I don’t think the Left is unaware...I think it fits with their Agenda. There’s a video out, of the mass illegal muslim immigration in Europe and a Jewish woman, founder of PAIDEIA, claiming the transformation of Europe with muslims benefits the Jews and Jews being a leader in this transformation.
