In his Christmas Eve homily Thursday, Pope Francis noted the simplicity of Jesus' birth as he rebuked what he called societies' intoxication with consumerism, pleasure, abundance and wealth.

You might check this out: an article from a "gay" publication (NewNowNext.com) saying Pope Francis "ruined" Rome's annual Gay Pride March by "spewing anti-gay rhetoric from inside The Vatican's walls while LGBT revelers poured into the city around him"

Didn't read this in the newspapers?

Gee. I wonder why.

I don’t like to click such places myself. It was interesting though, that they gay activists say Pope Francis was “spewing anti-gay rhetoric.” It is very evident that they don’t see him as a closet ally, but as an opponent; nor has he been silent in his opposition.

But what does any of that have to do with Francis' Christmas Eve homily focused on "consumerism"?

I was responding to what "a fool in paradise" said you you at #14

The December 2013 cover of that gay publication "The Advocate" constitutes slander, political manipulation, and distortion. Surprised?

Tell me, Mrs. Don-o, is Lifesite News also guilty of slander, political manipulation and distortion?

If you say, "Yes", I'll not be surprised.

"Then don't cc me your pings if you don't want responses from me..."

???

Huh? I didn't say I didn't want responses from you. You may perhaps be thinking of somebody else?

"Yes."

Yes, LifeSite --- an excellent site, I go there all the time --- has been in some instances a victim of political manipulation and distortion. This has been the case on the Kim Davis story.

Here's the back-story:

Vatican staffers from Papal Nuncio Carlo Maria Vigano's office initiated contact with Davis' lawyer on Sept. 14 saying the Pope wanted to meet her during his pastoral visit to the United States.

On Sept. 23, Pope Francis made a quick visit to the Little Sisters to the Poor, who are conscientious objectors against HHS mandates ordering them to facilitate the funding of contraceptives. Vatican press secretary Fr. Federico Lombardi said that the Pope's visit was "a sign, obviously, of his support for them."

The next day, Sept. 24, Vatican security picked up Davis and her husband up from their Washington hotel and brought her to the Vatican embassy, where Pope Francis expressed the same support, embracing Davis, saying he was "grateful for her courage," and urging her to "stay strong" and to pray for him.

Days later, on his flight back to Rome, ABC's Terry Moran questioned the Pope explicitly about government employees' right to conscientious objection in gay marriage cases.

"There should be room for conscientious objection in every juridical structure," Pope Francis affirmed. When pressed whether that right extends to government officials in the exercise of their office as well, Pope Francis replied: "It is a human right and if a government official is a human being, he has that right. It is a human right."

The day after the Pope's in-flight interview, Sept. 29, Kim Davis' lawyer from Liberty Counsel, Mat Staver, got word from the Vatican that it had pre-reviewed their press release and that it was appropriate to release it. It was then published in papal biographer Robert Moynihan's "Inside the Vatican."

Well, stuff, as they say, hit the fan.

What ensued was a hurricane of indignation, confusion, and outrage from LGBT groups and their media allies. Some said it was all a huge lie: the Pope had never met with Davis. Other claimed the Pope himself is a "homophobic bigot," and had "betrayed" them. Still others (like Vatican Press Office deputy Fr. Thomas Rosica) said he had been hoodwinked into meeting Davis, but had no clue who she was. Philip Pullella of Reuters news agency hinted that Davis' meeting was "possibly" a fleeting encounter in a "receiving line", with "perhaps" dozens of other people, attributing this to "a senior Vatican official, who declined to be named."

(Confused? Me, too. I actually had to draw a chart showing who said what, when, and where.)

Asked about it on Oct. 2, Press Secretary Lombardi confirmed lawyer Mat Staver's press release that the meeting had taken place, but added that he had not discussed or endorsed the 'intricacies' of her case (which agrees with what Staver said.)

And yet the Pope initiated the meeting with Kim Davis, according to Austin Ruse of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM).

And "Inside the Vatican" editor Robert Moynihan points out that during Pope's flight back to Rome, just a few days after embracing Kim Davis and thanking for her "courage" he repeatedly stated his explicit support of conscientious objection, in the case of religious organizations (like the Little Sisters of the Poor) and even public officials (like Kim Davis) who refuse to cooperate with an unjust law.

The American Family Association released a video in which Davis' lawyer Mat Staver. defending the Liberty Counsel press release, reiterated that Kim Davis's private meeting with the Pope was pre-approved by the Vatican.

Later emerging information like here (video starts at ~ the 6:41 mark) showed that everything Kim Davis said about the meeting is true.

First, the visit was initiated entirely by the Vatican. The pope was not "blindsided" or "ambushed" by Ms. Davis in any way. The Vatican reached out to her, not the other way round.

Second, the Vatican affirms that the meeting was a private meeting between Kim Davis and her husband with the Pope (and some Vatican officials). She did not, as the low-information media wants you to believe, crash some rope line. She did not insert herself; she was invited.

And third, the Vatican confirms that the pope did in fact affirm Ms. Davis for her principled stand. He commended her "courage" and urged her to "stay strong."

As these facts emerged, opponents of the pope's visit began to call for the sacking of Papal Nuncio Archbishop Vigano and all his staff for having set up the Kim Davis meeting. This "sacking" could only be done by Pope Francis. And it hasn't happened.

But guess who eventually got sacked: apparently the covert ops, gay-propagandist Rosica.

I don't blame the highly competent people at LifeSite News for not knowing this as of October 2. The whole story didn't come to light until AFA's video interview came out later in October. I hope everybody who is reading this is getting a little clearer picture now.
