MIAMI -- Florida politicians have a duty to address the perils of climate change even if they don't believe humans are hastening its grave consequences, Pope Francis' chief adviser on climate change said in an interview with the Miami Herald before addressing a weekend conference on climate, nature and society at St. Thomas University law school.
Cardinal Peter Turkson said: "Anybody running for public office who sees the life of the people affected by climate-related disasters" needs to act.
That, he said, includes the state's two Republican presidential contenders -- former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio -- who remain skeptical of the science tying climate change to increased carbon emissions.
"You'll not be shocked by this," Turkson added. "I also know of a cardinal or two who don't believe."
As president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, which also includes St. Thomas human rights professor Roza Pati, Turkson played a critical role in helping Francis draft the historic encyclical released last year. Leading up to the United Nations Paris talks that ended with a global pact to reduce carbon emissions, the manifest put the pope squarely in the middle of the debate, drawing praise for adding his significant influence to the issue and flack for meddling with what critics called a secular topic...

Should Florida stop growing oranges?
He ought to just shut up already
Doesn’t he have some islamo trash to make beds for? These idiots are making a joke of what used to be a respectable org.
You must understand. This Pope is from the wonderful country of Argentina, which harbored leading Nazi war criminals from justice, experienced several hundred percent inflation, consistently reelects kooks and dictators of the far left and far right, has endemic corruption throughout government, has most of its talented people relocated to Miami, and is potentially one of the richest countries in the world due to resources but is awash in poverty. Yet he lectures the United States and its people on a continuous basis, interferes in our politics, questions the Christianity of US political figures and I’m none too sure of his own - says nothing about Cuba, the mess in the Middle East, the mass murders of Christians in the Middle East and Africa, the threat of radical Islam, the infestation of pedophile priests even at he highest levels of the Church and the near-total decline of the church in Europe.
Doesn’t the Pope have enough to keep him busy what with all the sex abuse of children by priests breaking out all over?
The Florida Commissioner of Agriculture just reported this week that "without immediate and tangible support, as a long-term solution, Florida is facing the prospect of losing its signature crop and its more than $10 billion economic impact" to the state.
In two years, our citrus crop has almost disappeared. The fruit that remains on the trees are mostly not edible. Within a few more years, our trees will all be dead. And so far, there is no way to stop the bug that is causing the damage.
I heard the other day that Florida is switching to peaches because citrus is disappearing.
I had no idea.
Orange juice will start getting real expensive, real soon.
Does God get his advice from the Pope? Who do you suppose controls the climate anyway?

I have to believe this fraud of a pope is being paid, blackmailed, used, whatever - he is so far out of his league it’s insulting.
Where are all the Bishops/Cardinals??!! He is maddening.
Should Florida stop growing peaches?
Seems the Catholics screwed the pooch with this goober.
So, the Pope does NOT want Air Conditioning for people in Florida, I guess!!
He has no authority to begin with. This is all just making sure that the Catholic Church goes in lockstep with the NWO.
