My daughter Kelly has been in the hospital all week fighting a blood infection. She was moved to ICU today and put on a ventilator because of severe pneumonia. She is not doing very well and I would appreciate the prayers of our prayer warriors here on Free Republic.
Thank you all for your responses today. After yesterdays setback, we were able to convince the doctors to take her off the breathing mask and start feeding her again. They did it and adjusted her medications and she was doing much much better tonight.
She is breathing once again on her own and her numbers are once again up. It has been two steps forward and one step back for almost a full month. She was put in ICU on March 4 and is still there. When we left tonight she was doing much better but was clearly upset that we had to go.
Thank all of you for your continued prayers and support.
Faith,
Marlowe
Continued prayers.
Doesn’t she hav IV access for TPN? If so, you don’t have to worry about her starving. Prayers that she continues to improve.
We really appreciated the updates, Faith. You and Marlowe are so well informed on all that is going on, that you can make good suggestions to the doctors, and they obviously are good suggestions, as Kelly is responding positively. She is getting IV nourishment, but good to hear that her digestive system can take the feeding tube again. Prayers for you all continue.
Continued prayers and support.

Praise God, great news.
Continuing prayers.
Matt 18:20
Christ is Risen! Alleluia! Alleluia!
O Glorious Father,
Your Resurrection has given us new life.
We pray to You to renew Kelly’s life,
Fill her with the Holy Spirit,
Cleanse her body of her illness,
Give her and her Family strength.
We ask this through You, The Risen Lord,
Amen.
Christ is Risen! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Wonderful, Marlowe!! A blessed Easter to you and continued healing for Kelly!
Any news? Been thinking of and praying for Kelly. I hope you had a nice Easter.
Blessings of Easter be with you all.
Kelly Prayer Update:
The good news is that Kelly was booted out of ICU yesterday.
The bad news is that Kelly was booted out of ICU.
The ICU room was a lot better than the room they just moved her to. :-(
She is apparently out of imminent danger and has been moved to a room that is not as intensive (and not nearly as large). Kelly is breathing on her own and holding the numbers. Her Kidneys are functioning “adequately”, her lungs are pretty much clear at this point but she remains on a Pic line for antibiotics due to the sepsis infection. She will probably be on IV antibiotics for then next month. They did a CT scan of her brain and apparently there was some leakage which they described as “very minor”. They are scheduling an MRI to confirm that it is “very minor”. We pray that they are right and that what they found was “very minor”.
Kelly is still very very weak and is still unable to speak or move her arms or legs more than just a very little bit. She is getting physical therapy and is supposed to start speech therapy. She is scheduled to have another procedure tomorrow (actually it was supposed to be done today, but the doctor dropped the ball) to relieve pressure on her abdomen that is causing her problems breathing among other things. She is still on a feeding tube because she has not been able to swallow very well due to being on a ventilator for 16 days.
She needs to regain the strength in her arms and legs. We are praying that there was no permanent damage due to her being in a coma for so long. She also needs to regain some weight as she was basically without nourishment for several weeks because her stomach was not processing the food she was getting. So right now we are working on getting her strength and muscle tone and bulk back. This is going to be a long hard road.
Kelly was 24 days in ICU and now she is out. We were told there was about a 50/50 chance that she would get out of ICU alive. She beat those odds. She has graduated to the “less intensive” unit and God has hopefully given her a new opportunity for life. Praise God! We continue to pray for full recovery.
Thank all of you for your prayers. We do covet them.
Faith,
Marlowe
Still praying!
Prayers continue for a full recovery. Y’all hang in there!
More and more prayers for you and your family And for Kelly. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior King and Messiah. Amen Amen
Thank God!
More prayers up for her and your family. IIRC Speech Therapy is to help her swallow so she can regain swallowing food without choking. Getting off the Ventilator was a long term necessity and it sounds like she’s doing good on that part by your post.
