Gathering to honor those who had abortions

SOUTH BEND (ChurchMilitant.com) - Abortion supporters gathered in front of the last abortion mill in northeastern Indiana to say goodbye.

A handful of members and supporters of the Women's Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana, gathered on Friday, "to honor the patients, the women, and people in this community, who have needed and accessed abortion care."

Liam Morley of Pro-Choice South Bend lamented, "It is the end of this era for our community." She's talking about an era of over 10 years when abortionist Ulrich Klopfer performed abortions at the Women's Pavilion with blatant disregard for safe medical practice, patient safety, and in violation of dozens of Indiana state department health rules.

As ChurchMilitant.com reported, Klopfer admits he neglected to inform the state about abortions performed on girls under the age of 14 — a misdemeanor with up to six months in prison and a fine of $1,000 per infraction. He also admitted regularly referring girls to abortion mills in other states like Ohio or Illinois that don't have mandatory reporting laws.

Between 2011 and 2013, Klopfer had more than 1,200 complaints filed against him by patients. Pro-life investigators found 1,494 errors in the paperwork he submitted to the state showing he filed false or misleading reports on behalf of patients.

Klopfer's medical license has been revoked, and he's not legally allowed to perform abortions in the state of Indiana.

One Catholic pro-life group, the Apostolate of Divine Mercy in Service of Human Life, was present at Friday's vigil, but they were there for a different reason. They operate a facility called The Life Center next door to the Women's Pavilion where, among other things, they offer counseling to women contemplating abortion.

They also have permission from Bp. Kevin Rhoades of South Bend to reserve the Blessed Sacrament in a room close to the abortion mill where they've prayed for nearly three years for the Women's Pavilion to be closed and for Klopfer to see justice for his crimes against his patients and the unborn children he aborted.

After Friday's closing of the Women's Pavilion and the recent revocation of Klopfer's medical license, they are a little closer to their goal.

Other Catholic groups weren't present, allegedly because they were told not to go. Saint Joseph County Right to Life chose to stay away from the vigil, saying in a press release, "While we disagree with any effort to memorialize a business that has brought so much pain and harm to women and their unborn children in our community, we chose not to organize a counter-protest and thereby avoid a confrontation that would not benefit either side. We hope that any pro-life presence at this event will be peaceful and prayerful."

A member of the Apostolate of Divine Mercy confirmed to ChurchMilitant.com there were no confrontations or problems, and everything remained peaceful. He said abortion supporters "left their event very quietly and some of them appeared very disappointed."

To many, abortion is a pagan ritual meant to give glory to Satan. Under their abortion of logic, they argue that abortions should be paid for, lest their ‘religious freedom’ be violated.

Not just an unfortunate “necessity”. It is considered a rite of passage.

"To honor," according to the dictionary, is "to revere, worship, regard, or confer distinction upon." I'm wondering how killing one's baby(s) earns one reverence, worship, or regard. But I concede that it may merit distinction.

Then again, atrocities generally do.

Meh, Rastafarians view smoking ganja as a sacrament. Should the Feds have to pay for that too?

People who feel compelled to parade around to honor and celebrate their actions are profoundly ashamed of them.

Liberals love to consider themselves champions of minorities. Well as I see it a child in the womb is certainly a minority and those who would end it’s life by abortion can’t claim to be defenders of minorities.

This is just so sick and evil. It’s beyond words.

It’s like holding a memorial for the closing of a WW2 concentration camp...

who does this???

If we had a minute of silence for every baby that has been aborted in this country since Roe vs Wade, we would have 100 years of silence.
