From the edict of Pope Gregory VII in 1074, the Vicar of Christ said anyone to be ordained must first pledge celibacy. The RCC continues to this day to cause this abomination in their priestly ranks by not allowing priestly marriage. They could easily repeal the unnatural regulations against priestly marriage. For crying out loud...Peter, their first Pope, was Married! Virtually ALL French and German Roman Catholic Priests were MARRIED until 1074...

I think the Bishop is mixing up Sodom and Nineveh. Sodom died unsaved despite having Abraham bargain for it and Angels visiting it because they refused to repent.

If my faith tradition required me to believe that a word meaning, ‘brothers,’ must, in such a crucial instance, be translated, ‘cousins,’ I’d do a little investigating. The first, most obvious question, is did Koine Greek have a word for, ‘cousin.’
When I pursued this question for myself, it took little more than five minutes—at most—to establish that not only did Koine Greek include such a word, but that it actually appears in the NT.
Bear in mind I’m no scholar. I took two years of Greek decades ago. But discovering that the Holy Spirit-inspired NT writers knew of and used the word for, ‘cousin,’ didn’t require extraordinary skills. A very few minutes of minimal sufficed.
Is it possible that no Catholic scholar has ever searched the NT for an occurance of the Greek word for ‘cousin,’? If not, why not? And if so, what explanation can there be for God, who created communication and Who is the greatest communicator of all, to sow confusion in lieu of clarity, by bypassing the normal word for, ‘cousin,’ in favor of a word meaning, ‘brother,’?
I believe the Holy Spirit-inspired Bible—every word of it. If God informed us in His inspired Word that the birth of Jesus was like light passing through a pane of glass—or whatever analogy would have sufficed in the first century—I’d be first in line to believe it.
However, all the Bible says is that when Mary’s term of pregnancy was complete , she, “gave birth.” That is what I believe happened:she gave birth. If there was anything about the birth beyond that unadorned fact that believers needed to know, God would have told us. But He simply revealed that Mary, “gave birth,” and that’s sufficient for me.
