The Church didn’t do a very good job conveying that information. At a minimum, one would think that the priest who’s been called upon to celebrate the funeral Mass would remind the family ASAP of that prohibition.

Another point to ponder: you can't be buried face down (so everyone can kiss your a$$) if you're cremated.
