Trump, a shocked Vatican, and ‘papal’ climate change
American Thinker ^ | November 16, 2016 | Matt C. Abbott

It appears that many Vatican officials are unhappy with Donald Trump’s presidential victory.

… Corriere della Sera reported Nov. 10 that, according to its research, most in the Vatican were backing Hillary Clinton as the ‘lesser evil.’ Trump, on the other hand, was considered ‘unelectable’ due to his ‘aggressive chauvinism,’ in addition to his threats to deport 11 million illegal Mexican immigrants and ban Muslims from immigrating to the United States.

Now that the ‘greater evil’ has won, the Vatican is viewing the United States as ‘angry and radicalized,’ Corriere della Sera wrote….

A ‘lot of incomprehension’ and ‘bitter shock’ were generally prevalent for many in the Vatican, agreed one U.S. official who spoke with the Register. Based on ‘failings of reporting,’ he said, Clinton was represented as far preferable to Trump, who was portrayed as a ‘buffoon,’ and reporting about Clinton’s shortcomings ‘never sunk in.’

Due to a general lack of understanding of the U.S. ‘culture wars’ in Italy, Clinton’s radical pro-abortion-rights position also hardly figured at all in media commentary.

I can’t help but wonder if the Vatican is becoming the enemy of authentic Catholicism.  It sure seems that way.  As for Pope Francis, I was certainly willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in the early months of his pontificate, as were most other orthodox Catholics.  Sadly, his pontificate has turned out to be a huge disappointment.

He loves to give off-the-cuff remarks to members of the media about important moral matters that deserve far more serious and thoughtful treatment; he thrives on ambiguity in his speech and writing; he prides himself on being humble and merciful – “Who am I to judge? yet his words and actions toward orthodox clergy and laity have been insulting and arrogant.

I had wandered away from the Catholic Church in my early 20’s. Got married in a Baptist church, and could have joined any church (or none) at that point in my life.

I got serious about picking a direction after my first child was born. I got recruited back into the Church by a nun in the town of 600 where I was living. I figured this is where God wanted me.

The Catholic Church has many, many flaws. But so do all of the others. Because they are all run by men, and men are inherently flawed. If you keep waiting to find a perfect church to join you’ll never join one.

In my mind that’s not a good enough excuse do deny Him his worship.

I’m not even Catholic and it’s pretty obvious to me that a SJW Liberation Theologist was a big mistake as Pope, but then, like I said, I ain’t even Catholic. Maybe it makes sense to them.

Personally, I think we have closer to 100,000,000 illegals in this country (and that includes “anchor babies” whom I do not consider legitimate citizens).

Roman Catholic here ....

So, the bishops in America put out a voter guide back in 2012, called the "Five Non-Negotiables."

They are:

1] Abortion
2] Euthanasia
3] Embryonic Stem-Cell Research
4] Human Cloning
5] Same-sex Attraction "Marriage"

Clinton was 0 / 5.

Trump is 4 / 5.

We hope to work on the #5 with P-E Trump; but, for now, we must work immediately to ...

Make Catholics Catholic Again!

As a lifelong, conservative Catholic, I had no problem sending them an editorial expressing my disgust at Vatican participation in the AGW hoax, when they should be fighting the Fascist Population Control crowd behind the myth.

… Corriere della Sera reported Nov. 10 that, according to its research, most in the Vatican were backing Hillary Clinton as the ‘lesser evil.’

Hillary Clinton clearly stated that she supports late term, partial birth abortion. Cold blooded murder of the innocent is the "lesser evil?" Trump was the only presidential candidate who was clearly pro-life.

I am supremely disappointed and astounded at such a wretched finding! There must be some profoundly warped and twisted researchers at the Vatican. I never thought that could happen.

I say this as a devout, practicing Catholic who supports Pope Francis.

If you're thinking "This is bullshi'ite," Gamecock, you are right.

Catholicism considers abortion (or any intentional murder) as gravely and intrinsically evil, and this is an exceptionless norm.

To think that this is the equivalent to any other public policy issue, such as taxation, infrastructure investment, air quality control, immigration, FDA regs, etc.is just moral madness.

The entire world would be better off if the Catholics were much, much, much more Catholic.

Tagline.

Let's take all the illegal Mexicans and the Muslims and they can go live in the f**king Vatican. And before any of you might want to flame for referring to the Vatican so profanely let me remind you I'm a Catholic.

Our parish priest out here doesn’t have anything nice to say about Francis-we all know he is a communist and has been a puppet of the left-taught by the communists in Argentina...

I don’t know what happened with Benedict, either but I wish he would come back...

I am Catholic and don’t understand it either. I love my faith. But I have come to the conclusion over the past several years that Francis truly may be an “illegitimate” pope. I think Benedict was forced out so that Francis could be placed in power. Still, I do pray for him (most days). Also he is a Jesuit, which is very telling in itself. From family experience, I know quite a bit about the Jesuit order (sorry St. Ignatius but they need an overhaul).

He was pushed out, don’t you think? To make way for commie Frank. Unfortunately for Frank, Catholics have had centuries of lousy leaders and know how to burrow down and maintain the faith. We are the definition of “been there, done there.”

Still pushing the anti-Catholic science line? Even Wikipedia will educate you. We wouldn’t have science or astronomy today if it wasn’t for the Catholic Church and the west!

I think you are right-it was too sudden to be much of anything else.

I’ve reminded despairing fellow Catholics to look at the long history of the Church-there has been more than one apostate pope-no matter how bad they were, the Church survived them-it will survive Frank, too...

Indeed! Welcome home!

My step father was raised by non-practicing Lutherans who never had him baptized. When he married my mom (a practicing Catholic), he agreed to raise me in the Catholic Church. Occasionally, he would attend mass with us but never made any personal commitment. I was only a child when they married but began praying for him "to be baptized before he died". In his journey through life, dad met a man he respected who was also a Baptist minister. Because of their friendship, he considered becoming a Baptist but then realized that such a decision would have been based on friendship rather than theology.

In February 2014, as he prepared to undergo surgery, he had a dream that moved his heart. He woke up and asked mom to contact her pastor because he wanted to be baptized a Catholic. They had been married 60+ years and she did not take him seriously. But he persisted. The following month, we gathered in my parents' home. Since dad is in a wheelchair, he could not go to church so the pastor came to their home. He sent us off to a room with a closed door while he spent more than half an hour talking with dad. He wanted to be certain that this decision was not imposed on him. Once he had that reassurance, we rejoined them. Day received the 3 Sacraments of Initiation. My daughter & I were his sponsors.

In May, dad underwent surgery. The anesthesia triggered dementia. Had dad waited until after the surgery, no priest would have baptized him. Mom was determined to get him home in time for his birthday in August. With all our help, he pulled back sufficiently to bring him home.

Does God answer prayers? Absolutely "yes"!! He does so in His time, not ours. Again, "Welcome Home!"
