Oh I am not arguing about the power of forgiveness (Through Christ who has been forgiving abortions/murders for awhile already), however humility and true repentance is required.

False intentions/taking forgiveness for granted are blasphemies of the HS; calling good evil and evil good/maintaining a hard heart are as well.

God forgives, but the Church preserves/corrects. This is basically a disingenuous advertising campaign when taken as a whole of what this Pope has said before/leaders he promotes.

Our country is primarily Christian in nature (Plenty of RC), however is our country Spiritual healthy? I dare say many "Christians" seem to take advantage of forgiveness and desire not to truly repent. In the end, what the Pope has stated is the remission of a censure. Mankind can now sin at will and expect the Church to nod their head and say "good little boy/girl, all benefits of membership are still active. Come back here anytime." That is NOT a strong Spiritual Church.

As I read your comments, what comes to mind is Peter asking Jesus, "how many times should I forgive"? Spiritual maturity includes loving brothers and sisters who have committed grievous sins and if they repent - embrace them as members of His body.

I would be the first to admit that I have not reached the stature of Christ in this area. There are some sinners, like those who rape children, that despite any repentance, I would find it difficult to treat them as Christ does.
