Did your church offer prayers of thanksgiving for the election results?

Did your church offer a specific prayer thanking God for Clinton's defeat? In my church, which is in a 100% pro-life denomination (MO Synod Lutheran), it was notably absent.

> If refugees enter our country, we will meet them with the gospel.

See, I think that abuses the Gospel, because the heads of households need to be encouraged to PROTECT their communities, neighborhoods and families. There is a threat and it’s a sin on the part of the church to ignore it. Not to mention increasing the tax burden on everyone and taking jobs.

Even Scripture can be selectively preached so as to avoid all of the issues. If I see someone killing my “neighbor” and ONLY respond with “God is in control” I am a blasphemer.

The Orthodox Church is solidly pro-life but we don’t endorse specific candidates either pre-or-post-election. That said, almost every service contains prayers for the President, all civil authorities and those who serve in the armed forces.

Well that isn’t preaching all of Scripture.

Anybody who would preach that can’t be trusted with giving political advice.

Mine is a pretty conservative parish as well(Italian area), although Catholics especially have to be careful, as Obama would love to take away the tax exempt status or the Church. Of course, on the other hand, Hillary literally campaigned from the pulpit of a black church. That’s different!

The Wednesday after the election, our Baptist church’s prayer meeting had a lot of prayers of thanksgiving. Kind of hard to censor a group prayer meeting...

Lutherans would call your meeting a heterodox conventicle. However your spirit seems more like mine than the ones who are too good to thank God for what certainly seems like a temporary deliverance of our nation.

> prayers for the President

At our church, flowery generic prayers for Obama. Imprecations are far more in order, IMO.

No politics on Thanksgiving Day at my church. We were serving 1000 free Thanksgiving meals.
