Populism is Fuelling Rejection of Migrants, Says Pope
The Catholic Herald (UK) ^ | 2/21/17 | Junno Arocho Esteves

The Pope has criticised 'populist demagoguery' and urged people to 'welcome those who knock at our doors'

Indifference, fuelled by populist rhetoric in today’s world, fans the flames of rejection that threaten the rights and dignity of migrants, Pope Francis said.

Refugees escaping persecution, violence and poverty are often shunned and deemed as “unworthy of our attention, a rival or someone to be bent to our will,” the Pope told participants of the VI International Forum on Migration and Peace.

“Faced with this kind of rejection, rooted ultimately in self-centeredness and amplified by populist demagoguery, what is needed is a change of attitude to overcome indifference and to counter fears with a generous approach of welcoming those who knock at our doors,” he said on February 21.

The February 21-22 conference, “Integration and Development: From Reaction to Action,” was organised by the Scalabrini International Migration Network and sponsored by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.

According to the forum’s website, the conference focused on refugee crisis management while aiming to “influence migration policies and practices in Europe.”

In his speech, the Pope said millions of people are being forced to flee their homelands due to “conflict, natural disasters, persecution, climate change, violence, extreme poverty and inhumane living conditions.”

The “migrant” invasions are fueling populism.

No, it is out of fear of their lives and safety.

It’s not only Germany that covers up mass sex attacks by migrant men... Sweden’s record is shameful

A 1996 Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention noted that Muslim immigrants from North Africa were 23 times more likely to commit rape than Swedish men.

After that, they stopped tracking the data by ethnicity, too damaging to the elites even then.

Uh Mr Pope! What if these people don’t knock on our door? What if they break the door down or sneak into the window without authorization? What if they burden our already fragile economy with their needs? If you say these questions make no difference then why don’t you open your door to the migrants? Surely you have more to offer them than we do!

Someone needs to perform an Exorcism on the Pope. The guy is truly possessed.

Not letting rapists and murderers into your home or country, is a good thing. Anyone who says the opposite, is crazy and there is something very wrong with them.

Pope Francis ought to declare Vatican City a sanctuary city, and you’ll see how fast he switches gears. These lefties always advocate things that never affect them directly. Park a few of them at the gates of Vatican City, or put a refugee encampment on the grounds of the papal palace at Castel Gandolfo, and let’s see how compassionate and understanding His Holiness will be.

What the pope does not understand is that people can judge for themselves what is best better than some guy in a distant city.
