At the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow,
every tongue confess him King of glory now;
‘tis the Father’s pleasure we should call him Lord,
who from the beginning was the mighty Word.
At his voice creation sprang at once to sight,
all the angel faces, all the hosts of light,
Thrones and Dominations, stars upon their way,
all the heavenly orders, in their great array.
Humbled for a season, to receive a Name
from the lips of sinners, unto whom he came,
faithfully he bore it spotless to the last,
brought it back victorious, when from death he passed;
Bore it up triumphant, with its human light,
through all ranks of creatures, to the central height,
to the throne of Godhead, to the Father’s breast;
filled it with the glory of that perfect rest.
Name him, brothers, name him, with love as strong as death,
but with awe and wonder and with bated breath;
he is God the Savior, he is Christ the Lord,
ever to be worshiped, trusted, and adored.
In your hearts enthrone him; there let him subdue
all that is not holy, all that is not true;
crown him as your Captain in temptation’s hour;
let his will enfold you in its light and power.
Brothers, this Lord Jesus shall return again,
with his Father’s glory with his angel train;
for all wreaths of empire meet upon his brow,
and our hearts confess him King of glory now.

Oh Lord Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are most in need of your mercy.
Lord show your mercy to the unemployed and help them in finding a job.
I cringe when my son uses the Divine Name as a cussword. I told him the other day, “Stop that! Don’t call on Him unless you WANT Him!”
Wonderful post. Thank you.

And if that isn't love
Then the ocean is dry
There's no stars in the sky
And the little sparrows can't fly
Yeah if that isn't love
Then heaven's a myth
There's no feeling like this
If that isn't love It's got to be love
But that does not relieve you from the responsibility of keeping yourself out of places and situations in which you may be tempted. Or for thinking for yourself. To believe otherwise is begging for disaster.
A catholic post without mention of Mary. I’m impressed.
**Since the earliest centuries of the Church, the name of Jesus has been invoked to drive out demons and heal the sick.**
More accurately, since the earliest DAYS of the church.........
..**the name of Jesus has been invoked to drive out demons and heal the sick. But above all, it has been called upon to conquer sin, overcome temptation, and grow in holiness.**
Amen!
Pinging you to this, in Zot’s words, “Excellent Post.”
I have found the words of this article to be very accurate.
Once I was approached by two spirits who presented themselves as the grandparents of the woman I was working with. It was a bit unusual as the knot in my stomach became stronger the closer they came to me.
Suddenly, the words came from my mouth (but not from me) “Do you believe that Jesus Christ was born in the flesh?”
The two spirits answered, “We know Jesus.”
The words from my mouth stated in response, “That was not the question.” and repeated the previous question again.
The spirit’s blue eyes turned to black and then to red as their true nature came apparent. They were imitators, trying to trick me.
I had never read 1 John 4:1 prior to that day. In fact it was a month later that I stumbled onto it for the first time.
Since then I have used that phrase frequently and have also found that merely rebuking unwanted temptation thoughts arriving in my head in the name of Jesus also pushes them away. Truly as Jesus stated, if we are “One with Him”, then Our Father that is in Him is also in us.
1John 4 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
