Atheist Group Calls Bible ‘Hate-Filled Book,’ Says God Worse Than ‘White Supremacist Thugs’
Daily Caller ^ | 8/22/17 | Joshua Gill

Posted on 08/23/2017 6:35:58 AM PDT by Roman_War_Criminal

An national atheist organization wrote that the Christian Bible “encourages violence and racism” in an Monday letter intended to bully Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin.

“It should be no surprise that this hate-filled book has spawned hateful ideologies and groups to perpetuate those ideologies,” the letter read. “The Ku Klux Klan is and has always been, a Christian group. Klansmen began burning crosses ‘to spread the light of Jesus into the countryside.’ Hitler was a Roman Catholic and his soldiers wore a religious slogan on their buckle belts (Gott mit uns [God with us]).”

The Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) sent the letter to Bevin and berated him for suggesting during an Aug. 15 radio show that proper teaching of Biblical virtues in schools would reduce instances of white supremacist violence. The organization claimed that religious education, and religion in general, would lead to “increased levels of all manner of societal ills, including: violent crime and homicide, poverty, obesity, teen pregnancy, and infant mortality.”

“When you go back a couple of hundred years, in most instances the only textbooks that were in our public schools were the Bible,” Bevin told 89.3 WFPL during the interview. “And it’s interesting, the more we’ve removed any sense of spiritual obligation or moral higher authority or absolute right and wrong, the more we’ve removed things that are biblically taught from society, the more we’ve seen the kind of mayhem that we were just discussing.”

Funny...no mention made of the “koran” being a hate filled book.Oh,that's right! The atheists and the moslems have formed a temporary alliance.Well, the atheists see it as permanent but the moslems sure as hell don't.

Interesting comments on a book written entirely by Jews, except possibly the Gospel of Luke.

I say the Freedom from Religion Foundation is an antisemitic hate group.

It’s not that Atheists don’t believe in God, no, it’s that they hate God.

They just don’t know what it’s like to have a Father who loves you and hates things that are bad for you. They don’t understand tough love or discipline to bring about knowledge of righteousness, and justice.

Actually, they DO know what they do. That’s the difference between ignorance and evil.

Without an appeal to God, tell me why hatred is bad.

I have yet to see an answer to this challenge that is not a circular argument.

Though the atheists are stupid, Governor Bevin is ignorant.

He said: “When you go back a couple of hundred years, in most instances the only textbooks that were in our public schools were the Bible.”

Utter nonsense. 1. MOST schools 200 years ago were NOT public schools, they were private. 2. Our founders and their children read and learned history and philosophy from the classics of western literature at the time. They were hugely more educated about the world than many politicians today.

I know and understand the point about morals Governor Bevin is trying to make; I get the point and agree with the point. But his method, showing his ignorance, makes him looks foolish and feeds the Progressive and Atheists agenda of painting his basic view as founded on foolishness.

Satin is really nice but you wouldn’t want it IN your heart, so he was technically correct.

If they think the Bible is "hate-filled," just wait 'til they see what God has in store for them. They'll have lots of time to consider their choices, and reflect on what is and is not hateful...

LOL!!! Can you say "crispy critter?" I knew you could!

I’ll take the Livng God’s hatred any day over the worthless “love” of his enemies (which is nothing but a fickle emotion, contingent upon performance).

There are six things that the LORD hates,
seven that are an abomination to him:
haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked plans,
feet that make haste to run to evil,
a false witness who breathes out lies,
and one who sows discord among brothers.

Proverbs 6

There's something very interesting (and infuriating) about both chrstians and anti-chrstians: they both share the same worldview; they just take diametrically opposite sides.

Chrstians are convinced that the Hebrew Bible (the TaNa"KH) is a (G-d forbid!) "chrstian" book. The anti-chrstians believe the exact same thing! One supports the Book of Joshua as a chrstian text; the other hates it for the same reason.

Does it never occur to anyone on either side of this civil war that the Hebrew Bible is not, never has been, and never will be a chrstian text at all???

When chrstians and their opposites confine their argument to the "new testament" alone, we will be that much closer to sanity.

As a minor "PS," I note that these chrstian haters once again grant exemption to Black and Hispanic chrstians. Oh, and the original KKK was not an explicitly chrstian organization. It had Jewish members, including Dr. Simon Baruch, Jefferson Davis' personal physician and father of Bernard Baruch.

Also the German motto Gott mit uns (which is from the "chrstian" book of Isaiah) was on those belts before Hitler ever came along. He just didn't go to the trouble of removing it.

How is God worse than “white supremacist thugs” if He, in the atheists’ demented minds,” doesn’t exist?

Ask, how can they hate something which does not exist? They say God does not exist. Is that rational?

I believe that there are true atheists, myself among them, that do not hate God and view religion favorably.

How could one not believe in Santa Claus and hate him simultaneously?

Vocal atheists are better described as auto-theists - those believing themselves God.

A great number of our leaders fall into this category.
