I’m not convinced that Fra Cristoforo is to be believed. This rumor (of the oath) has been floating around for a couple of months now. It is so outlandish, I don’t see it happening.

This is the antipope. Paving the way for the antichrist.

Who knows what the future holds, but this possibility seems too far fetched. I think the great schism or spit happened with the Protestant Revolution, or Deformation as some call it. No need to look for a future event. Even the title reveals the author’s bias, i.e. the disrespectful referring to Pope Francis as Bergoglio.

The schism started with Vatican 2 whether they meant it or not.

After agreeing and allowing the ChiComs to seat 7 Bishops, against the martyrs of the true Church there, anything is possible.

Sounds like a demand to take an oath to the anti-Christ or be punished.

Only make oaths to Jesus. Popes are just men with a special position of leadership in service to Jesus. There have been holy, as well as evil popes in the past.

I don’t know about Fra Cristoforo, but I do know that the claim of the “Holy Eucharist being taken away in all the public Catholic churches in the world by way of a mandatory invalid ecumenical mass” is false.

http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/commentandblogs/2017/11/07/the-ecumenical-mass-idea-may-be-dead-but-what-comes-next/

Have some faith in your church, Catholics! Satan himself couldn’t defeat the Catholic mass; Pope Francis sure isn’t going to.

1) Obedience to the office of the pope is not obedience to Bergoglio.
2) Sedevancantism is heretical. (As long as Benedict XVI lives, I’d argue that it’s not sedevacantist to claim that Francis is an anti-pope.)
3) Do you believe more in the Catholic Church, or Fra Cristoforo’s unfounded claims?

Actually, it is not so far fetched.

Since it appears that we are living in the end times and that there's the very real possibility that the antichirst is on the scene somewhere, the false prophet would also be.

It would make PERFECT sense for them to demand fidelity and in Revelation, there's reference to the mark of the beast being needed to buy or sell.

That said, it's not like there hasn't been precedent for this in the past.

Pope Pius IX, Amantissimus: “There are other, almost countless, proofs drawn from the most trustworthy witnesses which clearly and openly testify with great faith, exactitude, respect and obedience that all who want to belong to the true and only Church of Christ must honor and obey this Apostolic See and Roman Pontiff." Pope Pius IX, Amantissimus (On The Care Of The Churches), Encyclical promulgated on April 8, 1862, # 3.
http://www.ewtn.com/library/ENCYC/P9AMANT2.HTM

Pope Pius IX (1846–1878), Encyclical Singulari Quidem March 17, 1856): “There is only one true, holy, Catholic Church, which is the Apostolic Roman Church. There is only one See founded on Peter by the word of the Lord, outside of which we cannot find either true faith or eternal salvation. He who does not have the Church for a mother cannot have God for a father, and whoever abandons the See of Peter on which the Church is established trusts falsely that he is in the Church. (On the Unity of the Catholic Church)
http://www.papalencyclicals.net/Pius09/p9singul.htm

Pope Pius XI, Mortalium Animos: Furthermore, in this one Church of Christ no man can be or remain who does not accept, recognize and obey the authority and supremacy of Peter and his legitimate successors. Did not the ancestors of those who are now entangled in the errors of Photius [the eastern “Orthodox” schismatics] and the reformers, obey the Bishop of Rome, the chief shepherd of souls?...Let none delude himself with obstinate wrangling. For life and salvation are here concerned...” Pope Pius XI, Mortalium Animos, PTC:873) The Promotion of True Religious Unity), 11, Encyclical promulgated on January 6, 1928, #11;
http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/pius_xi/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-xi_enc_19280106_mortalium-animos_en.html

Fifth Lateran Council: Moreover, since subjection to the Roman pontiff is necessary for salvation for all Christ's faithful, as we are taught by the testimony of both sacred scripture and the holy fathers, and as is declared by the constitution of pope Boniface VIII of happy memory, also our predecessor, which begins Unam sanctam, we therefore...renew and give our approval to that constitution... Fifth Lateran CouncilSession 11, 19 December 1516,
http://www.piar.hu/councils/ecum18.htm

St. Thomas Aquinas: It is also shown that to be subject to the Roman Pontiff is necessary for salvation. For Cyril says in his Thesaurus: “Therefore, brethren, if we imitate Christ so as to hear his voice remaining in the Church of Peter and so as not be puffed up by the wind of pride, lest perhaps because of our quarrelling the wily serpent drive us from paradise as once he did Eve.” And Maximus in the letter addressed to the Orientals [Greeks] says: “The Church united and established upon the rock of Peter’s confession we call according to the decree of the Savior the universal Church, wherein we must remain for the salvation of our souls and wherein loyal to his faith and confession we must obey him.” — St. Thomas Aquinas, Against the Errors of the Greeks, Pt. 2, ch. 36
http://dhspriory.org/thomas/ContraErrGraecorum.htm#b38

And last but not least.....

Pope Boniface VIII, Unam Sanctam: (Promulgated November 18, 1302) “We declare, say, define, and pronounce [ex cathedra] that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.”

"If, therefore, the Greeks or others say that they are not committed to Peter and to his successors, they necessarily say that they are not of the sheep of Christ, since the Lord says that there is only one fold and one shepherd (Jn.10:16). Whoever, therefore, resists this authority, resists the command of God Himself. " — Pope Boniface VIII, Unam Sanctam (Promulgated November 18, 1302)

Perhaps someone can tell me. Don’t Jesuits take an oath of allegiance to the Pope? Isn’t that why they are called the Pope’s soldiers? Wasn’t Bergoglio a Jesuit? Didn’t the Jesuits bring Liberation Theology to the New World and to Argentina in particular?

Don't buy it.

Even though I regard myself as part of the great falling away (this is my second Lent as a Non-Catholic) and am feeling a lot of anti-papal, anti-prelate sentiments right now I still can't regard this particular source as credible.

BTW, I'm still looking for a new denomination. If anyone has any suggestions I'm probably willing to check it out. My only requirements at this time are: Weekly communion (and "This is my body, this is my blood" refers to unleavened bread and wine, not vanilla wafers and grape juice), tolerance for belief in theistic evolution, no use of parishioner donations to pay court settlements against clergy, no Arianism, no Adventist/End Times preaching and NO SNAKES.

I think we will see soon enough. In the article at the end there is the exact formula used for centuries that the priest say: RENEWAL OF COMMITMENT TO PRIESTLY SERVICE.
Let us see what will be used, during Holy Week, and to read carefully is there is a difference, a renewal to Christ or ...???

We will all be lucky if it’s as overt as a public pledge.

This is the Devil and the Left. If this is the end times, they will deceive such as most won’t know it. Think Alinsky times 1000; Pharisees times 1000.

One answer: Pray more

THE “PROPHECY” OF SAINT FRANCIS:
Shortly before he died (1226), St. Francis of Assisi called together his brothers and warned them of future tribulations, saying:

1. Brothers act with strength and firmness in waiting for the Lord. A period of great tribulations and afflictions in which great dangers and temporal and spiritual discomforts will occur; the charity of many will grow cold, and the malice of the wicked will abound.

2. The power of the demons will be greater than usual, the immaculate purity of our religious community and of others, will wither to the point that very few Christians will want to obey the true Sovereign Pontiff and the Roman Church with a sincere heart and perfect charity. At the decisive moment of this crisis, a personage not canonically elected, raised to the Pontificate, will endeavor to administer shrewdly to many the mortal poison of his error.

3. While the scandals will multiply, our religious congregation will be divided among others which will be completely destroyed, because their members will not oppose but will consent to error.

4. There will be such diversity of opinions and divisions among the people and among the religious and the clergy that if those evil days were not shortened, as foretold by the Gospel, even the elect would fall into error (if possible) (Mt 24:24), if in such a storm they were not protected by the immense mercy of God.

5. Then our Rule and our manner of life will be violently attacked by some. Terrible temptations will arise. Those who will overcome the great trial will receive the crown of life. Woe to the lukewarm ones who will place all of their hope in the religious life, without firmly resisting the temptations permitted for the proving of the elect.

6. Those who in spiritual fervor will embrace piety with charity and zeal for the truth, will suffer persecutions and insults as if they were schismatics and disobedient. Because their persecutors, urged on by the evil spirits, will say that in this way they render a great honor to God in killing and removing from the face of the earth such pestilent men. But the Lord will be the refuge of the afflicted and He will save them, because they hoped in Him. And then in order to respect their Head, they will act according to the Faith and they will chose to obey God rather than men, gaining for themselves eternal life; they will fear nothing, and they will prefer to die rather than consent to error and perfidy.

7. Some preachers will keep silent about the truth and, denying the truth, they will trample upon the truth. The sanctity of life will be held in derision by those who only profess it outwardly, and for this reason Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a worthy Pastor, but a destroyer.

The Prophecy of Saint Francis indicates clearly that at some point in time there will be a false pope not canonically elected.
