Gay activists say the mourning over Billy Graham’s death is “disturbing”
The Bridgehead ^ | 2-23-18 | Jonathon Van Maren

I wasn’t going to write anything about Billy Graham’s passing simply because I don’t have anything new or interesting to say about him. I never met him, although my grandmother went to hear him out of curiosity at the Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam in 1955 with a fellow nurse. I attend a conservative Reformed church, and so our theology runs to the George Whitefield tradition as opposed to the more Wesleyan tradition of Billy Graham, who apparently preached directly to more than 210 million people—the largest number of anyone in human history.

But the response to Graham’s death was interesting, in that it proved a point that many of us who are engaged in the culture wars have been making for quite some time: The “Love Wins” activists of the LGBT crowd have only vitriolic hatred for anyone who refuses or refused to embrace the redefinition of marriage and the trashing of 2,000 years of Christian belief on sexuality. Canada’s Michael Coren, who is rather renowned in media for being a nasty fellow, has penned a column solemnly urging those mourning Graham’s passing to also remember that Graham didn’t change his mind on gay marriage, and thus unfortunately is consigned in history to standing with pipsqueaks like St. Augustine and G.K. Chesterton, rather than giants like the adept mind-changer Coren himself.

And Coren’s pitiful offering was only the least of it. John Semley, the freelance writer who penned a sloppy and slanderous takedown of Dr. Jordan B. Peterson in the Globe and Mail, tweeted hopefully that Billy Graham is now “reading the scripture in hell, baby!” Teen Vogue writer Lauren Duca tweeted “Have fun in hell, b****.” The Independent announced that the “outpouring of grief for evangelist Billy Graham is disturbing given his homophobic views,” because apparently nobody is allowed to cry when someone who doesn’t agree with gay marriage dies.

Aside from those few examples—I could go on, but they all say more or less the same thing—countless tweets, all wishing that the Hell these activists presumable do not believe exists, would briefly come into being in order to receive Rev. Graham. And why? Because he preached the simple truths about marriage and the human person that Christianity has held since the Crucifixion. There is no simple “live and let live” in a society where gay activists have, for the moment, won the majority of the cultural victories. Even the death of someone who disagrees with them must be greeted with hatred, derision, and the wishes of eternal pain. Don’t cry, they warn everyone. It’s just another dead homophobe.

It’s a shame that “Love Wins” was just a pathetic hashtag.

I agree with you Jim 0216, however it may be interesting to note that when nations turn away from God, sometimes He is the one who allows His word to be taken away...

Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.

So, if you’re not actively PRO gay, these tolerant, peaceful loving people will trash you and dance on your grave.

How nice.

The great falling away. The man of sin will not be revealed until that happens. Of course some think that Mohammad was the man of sin, and Dome of the Rock is the Abomination That Brings Desolation.

Amos' prophecy pertains to Israel turning from Christ and wandering for 2000 years. That time for them is about to end. In the meantime, and since Amos and the prophets, came the cross and the New Covenant of the grace of Christ.

In these days, God is saying to us...

[A]ll things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
2 Cor 5:18-20.

The main article says, in part: “The “Love Wins” activists of the LGBT crowd have only vitriolic hatred for anyone who refuses or refused to embrace the redefinition of marriage and the trashing of 2,000 years of Christian belief on sexuality.

I don’t hate liberals, the LGBT crowd, or anyone else for that matter. I know a lot of Democrats and people who think they are liberal who are actually moderates. They would be sickened to know the true agenda of liberals in America. I do disagree with some people, as a Christian and a conservative, but feel they have a right to hold opposing views, I wish they would feel the same about us. Like you said, Billy Graham did not agree with the LGBT crowd, and neither does God, that is why they hate Graham. I am reminded of the article “5 Uncomfortable Truths About Liberals” https://townhall.com/columnists/johnhawkins/2012/03/27/5-uncomfortable-truths-about-liberals-n727664 by John Hawkins which says in part:

Who are the most hateful people you can think of off the top of your head? If you’re not a liberal, the first people that probably come to mind are the God hates f@gs lunatics from Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church. What type of human beings would do sick protests at funerals?

Well, liberals have their own version of this. Whenever a prominent conservative gets sick or dies, there’s an orgy of celebratory hatred on the Left. It happened with Reagan, Breitbart and every other big name conservative in between.

Bill Maher, Barney Frank, Michael Moore, Keith Olbermann, Amanda Marcotte, Ed Schultz, Dan Savage, Ted Rall, Al Sharpton, etc. are some of the most hate-filled people you’ll ever run into outside of a maximum security prison, but liberals consider it to be okay because their hate is aimed at conservatives, who are acceptable targets.

This is why liberals felt perfectly comfortable attacking Sarah Palin’s children, harassing Michelle Malkin’s family until they had to move, and publicly posting the addresses of ordinary citizens who opposed Prop 8. They’re hate-filled people who are constantly accusing EVERYONE ELSE of behaving the way they do on a daily basis.

Liberals talk incessantly about tolerance and yet they lash out whenever anyone dares to present a view that doesn’t toe the liberal line. Conservative college speakers usually need extra security because budding liberal fascists often try to shout them down or assault them. Liberals desperately try to censor talk radio, which they don’t even listen to, because they can’t stand the idea that someone else is allowed to have a contrary opinion.

Why do you think liberals get so upset about a conservative-leaning news station like Fox News, when ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and CNN all lean to the left? It’s because liberals don’t think people should be allowed to have an opinion that differs from their own.

Amazingly, if you listen to liberals, you’ll find that they don’t even understand what tolerance is in the first place. Actual tolerance means that you realize people have different practices and views and even if you don’t agree, you understand that they should have the ability to live as they choose, just as you should have the leeway to live as you choose.

To liberals, tolerance is, by definition, whatever their opinion happens to be. So, to be tolerant, you have to agree with them. People who don’t even know what tolerance is shouldn’t be lecturing everyone else on the subject.

I said sometimes God allows His word to be taken away like in Amos’ day. Are you arguing that this is not possible now? Dominion theology?

Romans 1:18-32... Yeppers, that pretty much covers it. I can’t figure out how all those judges and preachers get around those plain spoken, clear as day passages in the operating manual for humanity... Better known as the Holy Bible.

Nowhere under the New Covenant does God say he will take his word away except regarding the Jews who didn’t want God in Christ and declared, “We have no king but Caesar”. Even then, many Jews receive Jesus - more all the time.

Jesus, who died for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2), is not taking his word away from sinners, but involved in reconciling the world to himself (2 Cor 5:18-20) - mostly Gentiles. The church is made up mostly of Gentiles.

Oh yeah, the New Covenant. The one God made with Believing Israel and Judah that birthed the Church...

Jeremiah 31:31 "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah."

You are also undoubtedly aware that we gentiles were grafted into God's New Covenant with Israel and Judah by God's grace...

Romans 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as** I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:... 17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; 18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

So now that we have that settled, why are you arguing? What if God allows His word to be outlawed like in Soviet Russia, Red China, and all the Islamic World? What if God allows our evil leaders to declare the Bible "Hate Speech"?

And that about sums it up. With the way things are going I wouldn’t be surprised if these folks start saying it’s a “hate crime” simply for a man to marry a woman and naturally procreate children with her.

They know that they never will be totally accepted as normal like they so wish to be and it fills them with anger and hate especially against Christians.

Remember the quaint argument they used to say, “ how does their lifestyle affect your marriage?” How they mocked anyone who was opposed to them as fear mongers. The rift between the Godly and Ungodly is quickly getting wider. The hate from the “lovewins” crowd is getting amped up at an increasing rate.

Jan, you seem to be aware of the New Covenant, but I’m not sure you understand that the New Covenant is the gospel of the grace of Christ (Gal. 1:6) whereby God says, “I remember their sins and iniquities no more” (Heb. 8:12, 10:17), so that now God is busy RECONCILING the world to himself (2 Cor 5:18-20).

We’re starting to around and around a bit. You keep ignoring half of what I’m saying to you. Try again...

Your replies ignore the thrust of the gospel of grace which because of the perfect sacrifice of Christ on the cross for the WHOLE WORLD (1 John 2:2), God is busy bringing people to himself. Nowhere under the New Covenant in the New Testament can you find God saying he will take his word away from sinners. He says JUST THE OPPOSITE as previously cited.
