Join us! Give up a meal, a snack, or a television show, and take time today to fast and pray for our country, for our border, for the wildfire survivors
and first responders, for our President and Administration in these times of trouble. Because:
A PRAYER FOR OUR NATION by Robert MatternFather, in the Name of Jesus, we place Jesus' blood over us as we come humbly before You. We take authority over all satanic spirits trying to hinder us in our prayers for this nation. We ask You Lord to bring to our mind any unconfessed sin which needs to be dealt with before we intercede for our country (I John 1:9).
We come before You without blame, made holy by the blood of Jesus (Eph 1:4). You tell us that the first thing to do when gathered together is to pray for kings and all authority (I Timothy 2:2).
We are holders of a dual citizenship. By birth or naturalization we are citizens of the United States. By rebirth we are citizens of Heaven (Eph 2:19-22), seated in Jesus Christ (Eph 2:6), for above all power, principalities, thrones, might and dominions (Eph 1:21). We are blessed with all spiritual blessings (Eph 1:3) and doing the works of the Father on this earth (John 14:10-14).
We have come together in this body which is now a church. We are to rule by prayer over civil authorities (Acts 12:1-11) showing the manifold wisdom of God to all the heavenlies (Eph 3:10).
We now assume our rightful position over this world and this nation. We bind to our authority in Jesus Christ in the third heaven, the entire satanic hierarchy, and loose derision upon the enemy (Psalm 2:4).
The objective of our prayer is to bring about the restoration of this nation. You say this is a people robbed and spoiled, all of them snared in holes and hidden in prison houses. They are for a prey and none delivers; for a spoil and none says restore (Isaiah 42:22). Lord, we ask You to cause it to be reported in the third heaven this day that we say unto you "Lord, deliver and restore," because we know restoration is only by the power of our God (Judges 11:13-24).
In the Name of Jesus Christ, we bind the rulers of this age, year, month and day. Since God commands, "Time and seasons for His people" (Dan 2:21), we set the spirit of Restoration over all the areas just bound, to restore unto us the years the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25).
In the Name of Jesus Christ, we bind the strong man (Luke 11:20-22) over this world, the Northern Hemisphere and North America. We now set the Spirit of Holiness unto the Lord over all areas just bound. In the Name of Jesus Christ, we bind the strong man over this nation and the spirits of Political and Spiritual Blindness. We bind the strong man over each individual state, commonwealth, territory, possession and all land occupied by the United States of America.
Lord, You have revealed Your nature to us in the names You have given Yourself. In Your Name, Elohim, You declare You are the Covenant keeper; and the Eternal and Unchanging God. We are Abraham's Spiritual Seed (Gal 3:16, 29) and all the promises of God are Yea and Amen in Christ Jesus (2 Cor 1:20) .
Bring about the deliverance of all the people in this nation who call themselves by Your Name. Let that deliverance cause us to humble ourselves, to pray and intercede (Acts 12:1-11), to seek Your face (Joshua 10:12; Isaiah 55:6) and to turn from our wicked ways. Then You will hear, forgive and heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
You have imparted Your Name, Elohim, to rulers (Psalm 82:1) and judges (Exodus 22:9). Because they manifest in a very small way some of your Deity and Nature, we bind and remove Satan from them. We loose upon them all the edifying Spirits of God (Hebrews 1:7, 14) which lost not their first estate (Isaiah 11:2). You are also Lord Jehovah, and must judge in relation to virtue. You love Righteousness and hate Iniquity (Psalm 45:7). If this alone were to happen, we would have no hope; because they have made Your law void, You must now act (Psalm 119:126).
You are God almighty, Elshaddi, the Pourer Forth, Who makes us fruitful by nourishing us with Your Life Blood (Acts 20:28) and the shedding forth of Your Spirit (Joel 2:28; Acts 2:17-21). Pour out Your Righteousness (Amos 5:24) with spirits of Grace and Supplication (Zech 12:10).
We now praise You and offer You thanksgiving (Psalm 50:14). You are God Most High, El Elyon, and rule in the Kingdom of men (Daniel 4:32). You tell us to call upon You in the time of trouble (Psalm 50:14-15), to possess, take and judge the Kingdom of the Most High (Daniel 7:18, 22, 25, 27).
Lord or Adonai, You are our Lord and Master (John 13:13), our Husband (Mark 2:19-20, Rev 18:23, 21:2-9). You bought us with Your Blood as our price (I Cor 6:20; 7:23) to buy from our previous father (Eph 2:3). You cannot put us away, for You have no bill of divorcement (Isaiah 50:1) and You hate divorce (Matthew 19:7).
You are the everlasting God or Eloloam and even though we as individuals have fallen from the task, You are the God of Ages, Who reveals Your Nature through successive times and varied dispensations as men are able to receive it (Eph 3:10-11). In Your Son there is the sure promise of Redemption and He is the Everlasting Father of Ages (Isaiah 9:6).
You are the Lord of Hosts, Jehovah Sabboath. The charge of this nation was given to Christians who have failed; Your Name is the Lord of Hosts Who remains when all things shake. "The Lord of Hosts is with us, though the earth and mountains be removed into the midst of the sea, the God of Jacob our refuge" (Psalm 46:2-3, 7, 11).
Teach us that David was more powerful with the Name of the Lord of Hosts on his lips (1 Samuel 17:45), than in all the numbering of the army of Israel (2 Samuel 18:1, 24:10). You show us that when Your people are captive and have to help themselves, the prophets take security in the Name of the Lord of Hosts.
We now sanctify ourselves to You, Lord of Hosts, and fear no other (Isaiah 8:13). We now know "Of His government there shall be no end ... The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this" (Isaiah 9:7).
You are the Lord of the harvest; we pray You to send workers into Your harvest field in the Name of Jesus Christ (Matthew 9:38).
In the Name of Jesus Christ we command the gold and silver of Babylon to come into the Lord's house (Ezra 7:16), and that the Demon of Paper Money be bound and cast out.
In the Name of Jesus Christ we bind the strong man over the judiciary branch and loose into it the Spirits of Truth, Justice and Peace (Zech 8:16); because "Truth is lacking" (Isaiah 59:15) and judges are to "Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling" (Psalm 2:10-11).
In the Name of Jesus, we bind the strong man of Political Corruption over Washington, D.C. We bind the strong man over President Trump and Vice President Pence. We bind the strong man over the U.S. budget, the Bureau of the Budget, Director of the Budget and over all purchasing and dispersing departments in the U.S. government. We bind the strong man over each government body on every level.
In the Name of Jesus Christ, we now loose the Holy Spirit to manifest Truth, Righteousness, Holiness, Fairness, Honesty, Inventiveness, Prudence, Justice, Wisdom, Fear of the Lord, Knowledge, Might, Power, Love, Sound Mind, Counsel, Adoption, Revelation, Knowledge of Jesus Christ and the Obedience of Caleb over all areas bound.
We bind the high world rulers of War, Famine, Drought, Pestilence, Disease, Antichrist, 666 and Lawlessness, that this nation may remain at peace and herald the Gospel of the Kingdom forth to all the world (Matthew 4:23, 9:35, 24:14; Mark 1:14).
You tell us, Father, of a people who shall be of Thee, "to build up the old waste places; who shall raise up the foundations of many generations and be called the repairers of the breach, the restorer of paths to dwell in". (Isaiah 58:12). Restore now, Lord God Most High, Maker of Heaven and Earth, Lord of Hosts, and of the harvest. In the mighty Name of Jesus we ask this, Thank you, Father, for setting this nation free. In the mighty Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I appreciate your thoughtful essay on the state of Christianity in America, and share your concern.
May it be of comfort to you that a remnant are using the internet to study the Bible with a speed and comprehensive search function that was never possible before. The remnant can gather at places like FreeRepublic and find one another across the continent, even as we have done on this thread today. I know that many who said they would fast and pray yesterday or today are actually doing so, and there was no social coercion or peer pressure involved like there sometimes is within a local congregation. Those who heard the call, responded!
Shouldn’t all the evil that’s celebrated in our society today be the cause for more calls for prayer and fasting and returning to the Lord, and that even at holidays? Shouldn’t there be some mourning called for by our “Christian leaders” If we want America to be run in a way that’s more pleasing to God, then the Church must live up to its responsibility to be the guardian of “democracy” — the republic.
Likewise, our online congregation associated with the daily AMERICA Prayer Vigil, pinglists of many hundreds within FR like the MAGA list, the Bigly Trump list, the Trump Train group, the Boy Scouts list—over 1,200 freepers—all were called to this thread and its purpose this weekend. Other freepers may have simply happened upon the thread, and may have offered a meal sacrifice or a word with God. "The prayers of the righteous avail much!"
Remember, all true Christians are "the Church," and are a priesthood of believers. The leaders who go on television or sit in councils aren't the only leaders — a leader from our FR community called us today to fast and pray, and yes, to mourn for our country.
The group who post the daily AMERICA Prayer Vigil thread have been praying together specifically for our nation every day since the two candidates for president were finalized in 2016, and many of the leaders long before that. You were called to mourn and rejoice and fast and pray this weekend, and you responded! As have many others. It will take awhile to turn the vast ship of state around, but we mustn't lose hope. Whether the political nation survives or just its Christians run the race to the end, we must always pray, and pray continually for one another. You are welcome to join in any day, or to sign up to receive a daily ping.

I also believe we might be in the End Times. The technological advancements, what they mean, and how they affect the world spiritually all make it appear that way to me. I believe science and technology may be the strong delusion, especially since they are about the only thing different in the world since ancient times that might be a new sort of powerful delusion, and they attack through man’s pride and carnal appetites.
Yet as always, even when and if nations turn against the Lord, there is always, as it’s been said here, a remnant, and more people who are the lost sheep that the Lord is seeking, and He does that partly through us. We get to play that part. That is where I most see what’s happening to our nation mattering. God separated Israel from the other nations so they would be a nation of priests to the world, a nation prepared for the Messiah. John the Baptist was sent in the spirit of Elijah to prepare the way for the Lord, and later so were Jesus’ disciples. The way needs to be prepared for the Lord so that people can understand Him when He comes, and that’s especially what the devil is attacking now. I’ve heard it said that our hearts are like that stable in Bethlehem. Baby Jesus has to born in us and grow in us, and Satan wants to prevent Jesus’ birth, and if not that, than to kill Him afterward. Satan truly seeks to poison what he can and destroy and devour however he can. Everywhere he’s working to take the light out of the world and make people more and more distant from God, and that’s so often working, because God is allowing it, yet it’s the Church’s part to resist it. And we’ve experienced the spiritual food that so many people hunger for, and we know where it’s to be found, and God can still reach people whom He foreknew, both here and in other wealthy countries, through our testimony about His amazing goodness.

There is an evangelism program in the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese title "Becoming fully human" which is a bumper sticker summary of Theosis.
We recapture the Divine image through full incorporation of the humanity of Christ, the new Adam.

I came home Monday after two weeks in hospital after suffering sudden heart attack at home. I realize how important my family is.
It will be a happy Thanksgiving here. Realizing that I might not have survived to be with them tomorrow.

I haven’t been able to get back to this thread again before now, and don’t have much time at the moment, but the state of the Church in our country right now reminds me of, among other things, the prodigal life of the Prodigal Son. And as we know, the prodigal son when he was living a prodigal life was separated from and in rebellion against his father.
Satan is always at work to take away Godly options for living and to replace them with prodigal, rebellious ones.
This time also seems to be one subject to strong delusion, as I said.
But still, since we are commanded to make disciples and we know the goodness of the Lord, we also know that there may be many people who hunger for Him, who are lost and don’t know the way. Satan is at work making them like the people of Nineveh, they don’t know their right hand from their left. They don’t know they’re even missing something, but think they know that Christianity and belief in God are silly, ignorant, if not evil.
And the more Christians here are reminded to think of the Church in all times and places, the better. To the Lord, His body is one. Right now the the Church in America is encouraged to think of itself as the head of the Church worldwide, the chief Christians, and the center of the Christian faith, the most knowledgeable, understanding and insightful Christians too.
Definitely I believe that in a country such as ours that Christians have a responsibility for how it’s run and that it’s possible in a sense for the Lord to change things, but given everything today, it seems like the country is being left to its own choices, and that includes the choices by many Christians. So very little of what the Lord bestows on Christians here — all of our possessions, including our hearts, minds, strength and time — is actually put to use for His Kingdom while so much of it is spent on enjoying this world, which we aren’t to love.
No, when Jesus appears to see what I’m doing, I want to be using what He’s given me to advance His kingdom, like a faithful handmaiden servant, and not be consuming most of it myself for my own pleasure and comfort while on this earth. He tells us He’ll come like a thief in the night, and He’ll see what we’re doing with what He’s entrusted to us, like a master suddenly returning from a trip. What we’re entrusted with can do so much to increase the Kingdom of Heaven if we’ll use it in doing so.
I fail to see how your response related in any way to what I wrote. You appear to need to argue and oppose and find negativity. Fare well to thee.
I was rejecting your spiritual direction to just be satisfied with the Church in America and what it’s doing. I believe God sees it very, very differently. That is based on His Word, and in particular, the New Testament. Judging by God’s Word, and the New Testament in particular, the Church in America is a wonder for doing so little while having so much even though it has God’s Word, which would enable it to do much with the much it has. So what’s important to me is not what so many other Christians here say, in which they want to hear what they want to hear about how the Church is doing here, but what the Lord will one day say.
