Catholic Caucus: How can Abortion or even if Abortion can be forgiven
19-Dec-2019 | Vanity

Posted on 12/19/2019 2:32:54 PM PST by topher

At one time, a priest could not forgive abortion in the Roman Catholic Church in Confession.

Is there a way to get abortion forgiven in the Roman Catholic Church?

Also what must a politician do if they say they are Catholic and abortion is okay. An example would be Nancy Pelosi, who claims to be a good Catholic, but strongly supports abortion as a right (???)

Nothing a woman is "told" would confirm that her baby is not a living being inside is her baby (except, of course, by satan.)

Jesus/God would tell a mother that she is pregnant with a living, pre-born baby that would one day become a fully grown child, if she bothered to asked Him.

God is a God of second chances.

Even the thief/murderer on the cross was forgiven, for he recognized Jesus was God and asked for forgiveness!!

The requirement is to admit you are a sinner and promise to turn your life around and follow Christ.

The words “repent and believe the Gospel” are meant for all human flesh under the sun for all time. No one, no matter how wicked they currently may be, is excluded from that clarion call from Above.

The only unforgivable sin is denying the power of God. Atheists deny the existence of God; but that is different. Those who acknowledge the existence of God but deny His power is stronger than satan’s commit the unforgivable sin.

Rachel’s vineyard is a very well run program that has been in existence for many years. They are affiliated with EWTN at least they used to be.

They have answers

That is what I was told when I went back for a refresher course in the early seventies: all sins can be forgiven. From the priest at Saint Patrick’s who was leading the course.

It was a very interesting class. Many were first-time converts. The priest called on everyone who raised their hand.

One time a guy raised his hand, and when the priest called on him he said, “I want to tell you about my conversion.” We all got ready for a long story, but he just said, “I got lost in an orchard,” and sat down.

I don’t think that is correct.

“I always wonder about a woman who is told it’s not a baby and believes it.”

She knows its a baby. She makes believe she doesn’t think it’s a baby because that is expedient. And since God knows her heart...

Speaking of bothering to ask him, there's a book that was published back in 2005 called Operating Instructions, by Anne Lamott, that tells of her indecision about abortion and her asking God for the right answer.

That night she had a dream that her son was falling down a well and she was reaching out to try to pull him back up and he was reaching up his little hand . . . and you know what her decision was. The book is about his first year.

An old friend of mine and I went to Barnes & Noble at 17th Street when Lamott was speaking and signing books, and there were all these little kids running all around the place--children of women who had read the book.

Remember that it is God who forgives the sin.

Sins are forgiven if one is truly repentant. Only GOD knows if one is TRULY repentant.

Abortion is a sin like any other and will be forgiven by God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Why wouldn't it be? Abortion is murder. Driving drunk and killing someone is murder but that sin can be forgiven as well.

I always wonder about a woman who is told it’s not a baby and believes it.

That woman is in denial.
She's a liar.
She's stupid.
Two out of three or all of the above.

Pick one.

It appeared in Post #11 by Campion. All priests can now forgive the sin of abortion.

At one time, the sin had to be told in Confession, brought to the attention of the Bishop, and then a second Confession.

Someone else said this Post is correct. This is the text of Post #11:

[Post by Campion]

Abortion incurs a latae sententiae excommunication.

It used to be that priests had to request the faculty to remit the excommunication from the bishop on a case by case basis, so the penitent typically had to confess twice, once to request the faculty and once to receive it.

I believe that now Pope Francis has extended the faculty to remit the penalty to all priests in confession, so it's effectively like confessing any other sin.

And remember it when someone desperately needs it!

The friend who went with me to that meeting was a dedicated pro-lifer who also cared about the mothers. She did the “baby bottles” at her church, where the bottles are handed out and then people fill them with their loose change, and then they go to expectant mothers who are needy.
