Rejecting Christ

"For those who disbelieve, 'the stone which the builders rejected, this became the very corner stone,' and, 'a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense'; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed" (1 Pet. 2:7-8).

Rejecting Christ leads to spiritual damnation.

Israel was a unique nation, chosen by God to be the guardian of His Word and proclaimer of His kingdom. The Old Testament records His miraculous and providential care for her throughout the centuries, and the prophets told of One who would come as her great Deliverer. Israel eagerly awaited the promised Messiah.

But the story has a surprise ending. In the Person of Jesus Christ, the Messiah finally came and presented Himself to Israel. The religious leaders examined Him carefully, measuring Him in every way they could. But He didn't fit their blueprint. They expected a reigning political Messiah who would instantly deliver them from Roman oppression. They felt no need for a spiritual deliverer, so they rejected Him and tossed Him aside like a worthless rock.

That rejected cornerstone is precious to believers but remains a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense to unbelievers. A "stone of stumbling" was a stone on which someone tripped while walking along the road. A "rock of offense" was a rock large enough to crush a person. The point: rejecting Christ brings spiritual devastation of enormous proportions.

All who reject Christ do so because they are disobedient to the Word. Rebellion against the written Word inevitably leads to rejection of the living Word. Of such people Peter said, "To this doom they were also appointed" (v. 8). They weren't appointed to reject Christ, but to receive the judgment that their rejection demands. That's a frightening reality that should motivate you to take every opportunity to evangelize the lost.

Suggestions for Prayer

If you have family or friends who are rejecting Christ, pray for them often, asking God to grant them saving faith.

For Further Study

Read Romans 9:30-10:17, noting Israel's false standard of righteousness and Paul's prayer for her salvation.

I was a catholic. I went to catholic school, all the way through high school. I was never a self satisfied catholic, who thought, that somewhere along the line, I would work it out and be saved in the end. Nope. I was always scared to death, that I would never be good enough to attain Heaven. In that, I was right. No one can do it. Not me, not you, not anyone. I had resigned myself to the thought of eternal hell fire. I didn’t like it, but I knew I was going there. I reached a level of despair, when, at the tender age of 21, an Air Force Officer, 1st Lieutenant Ted, told me the truth about the REAL Jesus, not the Jesus of the cults. 👍 I knew he was telling me the truth. How could I turn down the free gift of eternal life. I became born again, and the rest, as they say, is HIS-story. 👍

Salvation, I have asked you previously, at least once, maybe twice, to stop sending me freep mail. Whatever you want to say to me, you can say it publicly, in front of God and everyone. The confirmation and baptism are not on my soul. I don’t need any questions answered, and I will NEVER swim the Tiber. I will not give up eternal life in Heaven, for a religion of dead works. Have a nice eternity. I plan to. 👍😁☝️

While I do wish Mark 17 well and I do not judge him, everyone can make their own decision about how to worship God.

My comments are defending the Catholic faith using the Bible and reason and logic to help others understand God’s Truth.

While there are errors and sins that the Catholic Church and its members have committed that we have acknowledged and attempt to change our ways to follow God’s will. Our human nature stills commits sin and some will continue to follow the ways of the world and not the ways of Jesus. This is part of the history of the Catholic Church and all other organizations.

Many do not agree or want to believe that Jesus established His Catholic Church and the Sacraments to help all of us attain eternal life with God. Many do not follow God’s commandments or wish to follow the precepts of the Church. Many have left the Catholic Church because the path is too hard and have joined heretical religions formed by man with doctrines ignoring the Truth of God and most of the Sacraments.

God knows the path is difficult that leads to life and recommends the narrow gate. (Matt 7:13-14). Jesus gave us the Sacraments to help us on our journey that includes His Body and Blood for food for our life. Like Jesus tested Peter, our life on earth is a test by God to see if with our free will our love of God and neighbor is strong or weak. We should be humble and obedient to God’s will so that we will have life with Him.

Jesus is the Word made flesh. His word is the Truth that we should follow. So why are there so many different doctrines among christian churches that proclaim His Truth?

From my point of view all other christian religions left the Catholic faith and adopted their man made truths. They all blame the Catholic Church but they are unable to substantiate their doctrines as God’s Truth. Yes, they play with the meaning and change their interpretations of the Bible to their doctrines. Unlike Jesus who was obedient to God the Father, Luther and many others were not obedient to Christ’s Church and instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to change the Catholic Church from within, they chose to create their own religions and doctrines that were not God’s Truth.

We have a choice to be members of Christ’s Catholic Church through Baptism, the Mass and the Sacraments and follow God’s will as Jesus was obedient to the Father or to select an alternative that may follow some of God’s Truths but not all.

Many can make false claims about the Catholic Church (and some true - our sins and errors over the centuries), yet the Catholic Church was established By Christ, members authored the Bible, selected the books of the Bible, defended God’s Truth, went out and preached the Good News and Baptized all nations. Will all men and women become Catholic? No. Will all Catholics attain Heaven? Probably No. Do non Catholics attain Heaven? Some will and some won’t. I do believe those that have left the Catholic faith will probably not attain Heaven unless they repent before death.

Everyone can thank Pope Pius V and Our Blessed Mother and all Catholic Europe praying the Rosary for the defeat of the much stronger Turkish navy at Lepanto in 1571 that saved western civilization or we might all be muslims.

I said this upthread on the first page I believe.

Do NOT reply to Salvation anymore. She will try her best to get you banned. See how she asks ridiculous pointed questions and tries to get you to insult the RCC so she can turn around and tell a mod.
They cannot win the Biblical argument, so this is their tactic now. It mimics ANTIFA in a shrewd way actual. Cancel culture and all that.

“ Everyone can thank Pope Pius V and Our Blessed Mother and all Catholic Europe praying the Rosary for the defeat of the much stronger Turkish navy at Lepanto in 1571 that saved western civilization or we might all be muslims.”

Do you have any evidence that might demonstrate this is the cause??

It sounds like more of an assertion that is unprovable...

The rosary is about the life of Jesus and his Mother’s place in it. The Hail Mary is all about his incarnation.

On October 7, 1571, Pope St. Pius V equipped all the sailors of the fleet of the Holy League (a coalition of European Catholic maritime states) with rosaries, and they prayed them. As a result, they inflicted a major defeat on the Ottoman Empire and thereby saved Europe from a Muslim takeover.

Pope Pius v “ He called on every Christian in Europe to pray for victory. And the prayer he chose was the Rosary.”

p83 “Mary at the Crossroads of History” by Rev Francis J Hoffman, J.C.D.

The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, formerly known as Our Lady of Victory and Feast of the Holy Rosary, is a feast day of the Roman Catholic Church, celebrated on 7 October, the anniversary of the decisive victory of the combined fleet of the Holy League of 1571 over the Ottoman navy at the Battle of Lepanto.

The actual quote: “...are you angry with me because on the Sabbath I made a man’s whole body well? Do not judge by appearance, but judge with right judgement.”

One that makes a right judgement might not be righteous.

Christ replied to the Jews that if they can circumcise a young male on the Sabbath overriding the duty to observe the Sabbath rest lawfully, then how much more should the whole body participate in the blessings of the new covenant on the Sabbath.

The rosary is about the life of Jesus and his Mother’s place in it. The Hail Mary is all about his incarnation.

Sure....

That 3explains why the bulk of prayers on the rosary are Hail Mary's.

You're going to have to try much harder to convince people of your ideas.

Yes, that is one reiteration of history.

I am simply asking how you can prove that this had an effect - that it was what caused the result??

It seems an opinion or assertion without any factual proof.

Now opinions are fine. Everyone has them.

I am asking if what you claimed can be shown to be more than merely an opinion?

My comments are defending the Catholic faith using the Bible and reason and logic to help others understand God’s Truth.

There's your problem...Somehow thinking that your reason and logic and wisdom are equal with God's...God never trusted man's logic, why would you???

2Co_1:12  For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

From my point of view all other christian religions left the Catholic faith and adopted their man made truths.

Do you find it odd that all these different Protestant denominations can find and show you evidence of their doctrines in the scriptures??? Can the Catholic Church do that??? Nope...In fact we can show plenty of scripture that contradicts Catholicism's doctrines created with Catholic fleshy wisdom, reason and logic...

They all blame the Catholic Church but they are unable to substantiate their doctrines as God’s Truth. Yes, they play with the meaning and change their interpretations of the Bible to their doctrines.

Now there's projection if I've ever seen it...

Many can make false claims about the Catholic Church (and some true - our sins and errors over the centuries), yet the Catholic Church was established By Christ, members authored the Bible, selected the books of the Bible, defended God’s Truth, went out and preached the Good News and Baptized all nations.

There wasn't any Catholic church back then...And no Catholics authored any of the bible...The Roman Catholic Church derived from the Gentile population...

Act 13:46  Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you (the Jews): but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

Not only were none of those people Catholics, they were not even Gentiles...

Not really because people leave all the time and there's NO indelible mark on my soul from Catholicism.

That's just another claim to they to make to have control over people and their lives and there's not a shred of truth or evidence to support it, certainly nothing in Scripture.

Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

We are new creatures in Christ and the old has gone and the new has come, so no more mark of Catholicism on my soul.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Catholicism doesn't own me and never did. It has no authority over me or my soul. That is God's dominion.

Actually, I posted a literal Greek translation.

Just meaning, according to right, righteous, just

But in either case, we are to judge justly, righteously, rightly.
