Biblical Christianity yearns to hear God speak; however, it affirms that He speaks today only in Scripture (cf. Hebrews 1:1, 2; 2:1-4; 3:7).

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING! You are using those verses to support that assertion? I think we have a very different dictionary and I have no idea, not the first clue how your "logic" works.

SPOKEN TO US BY HIS SON HEB 1:1--AS IN MY SHEEP KNOW MY ****VOICE**** AS IN VOICE--AS IN EARS TO HEAR!!! sigh.

Heb 2:1-4 I like the heading notation: "Warning to Pay Attention" "We must pay more careful attention, therefore wo what we have HEARD, [emphasis added!]so that we do not drift away. 'for if the message SPOKEN by the angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore such a GREAT SALVATION? This Sal ation which was first ANNOUNCED by The Lord, was confirmed to us by those who

HEARD Him. God also testified to it by SIGNS, WONDERS and VARIOUS MIRACLES AND GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRITDISTRIBUTING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL.

Awwwww shucks--not according to my constipated theology?

Heb 3:7:

Today, if you

HEAR His VOICE, do not harden your HEARTS as you did in the rebellion . . .

YUP, sounds like GOD WANTS US TO WALK SO HAND IN HAND WITH HIM, SO SENSITIVE TO HIS SPIRIT AND HIS VOICE that we are like a well trained horse responding quickly and obediently to every subtle movement of the rider's body, finger, tone of VOICE.

In another place you assert that The Bible alone--as you say it:

Bible reveals everything a believer needs to know as a Christian, in order to fear, love, serve, and please God

I suppose I could agree in a sense and to a point. The Bible LEADS ME TO HAVE A SENSITIVE-TO-HIS-VOICE WALK WITH GOD AND THEREIN I learn all else I need to know.

If I'm torn between marrying two women. And I have a hard time knowing from reading The Bible which one is best for me--they still appear equal and I Love both of them seemingly equally. . . Ahhhh Ha, I can TALK TO GOD AND LISTENT O HIS VOICE! Certainly HE KNOWS WHICH ONE IS BEST FOR ME! He can tell me. He says Ask, Knock, Seek! Not as acts of futility but as a dynamic dialogue, dance with Almighty God. Song of Solomon comes to mind. How exciting.

Of course if you prefer to dance silently and deafly with a printed page, be my guest.

The more I know of politics and the more I know of Christ, I come to the conclusion that the two are often irreconcilable.

We are being led into a war with Islamic fundamentalists for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that most of them want us dead.

At this time in history, I think it's prudent to squash every Muslim terrorist on the planet.

Sometimes governments do the right thing, even when they never intended to in the first place.

Sigh.

The Bible is loaded with such. Perhaps I'll bother to track some down for you some time. Perhaps God will have me about other priorities.

Clears the lungs and sinuses out sometimes.

God is loud too, sometimes.

If God foreknows all event and If God has a plan do you really think he is at your beck and call?? Or do you think that God knowing all things in advance knew you would pray?

The purpose of prayer is not to influence Gods decisions ..they were made before the foundation of the earth...prayer moves our hearts toward God..

"OF COURSE GOD IS THE STAGE DIRECTOR AND MAJOR ACTOR ON THE SCENE."

Come on zadock.."all the worlds a stage "don't you know that ? *grin*..Now tell them that God owns the stage and the "actors" and that HE wrote the script they will have a fit. He can set the stage and "participate as "one of the players " ...but they want to write the script.....

The terrorists should be squashed, and so should those that fund and enable them, even if they presently occupy offices within our own government.

God knows all things and no evil will go unpunished.

We are a nation of hypocrites. The USA is not morally superior to any other nation. We are not morally superior to the taliban, nor the Iraqi's.

Our policies have caused thousands of more civilian deaths than theirs have.

We live in a culture that accepts the murder of 4000+ "innocent" children EVERY DAY in our own land.

The twin towers attack claimed 2,800 lives.

Who is the greater enemy? Ourselves, or the muslim terrorists?

I'd prefer that you didn't put words in my fingers.

I think you might be able to find a better pillow than Calvin's tomes.

To ##36-38: typical Charismatic blahblahblah. "I've experienced this, I've experienced that; my guess, my hunch, my feeling; how dare you?..." blah blah blah.

Anything but interacting rationally, logically, and factually with Scripture.

I'm eternally delighted that GOD WROTE THE SCRIPT.

I think your construction on predestination sorts of reasonings troubles me for a very fundamental reason.

Before one goes very far down that path, one has to forfeit RELATIONSHIP for a CHARADE.

CHRIST ENTERED HUMAN FORM AND DIED!!! THAT WE MIGHT HAVE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FATHER AND WITH ONE ANOTHER.

You describe, not a relationship, but a very, very dull computer program. That's not the God I know and that's not the relationship I have with Him.

I don't know HOW HE works out responding meaningfully to my Prayers and works that and free-will out with His foreknowledge. I don't have to understand that at this point. I can have faith that He works it all out perfectly.

Naw satan is bound..so there is no problem...this is the new Jerusalam...heck we are all Israel...this is all over...

If you are saying this is the amil position, you are wrong. And also being very unfair in stating that it is and I've not ever thought of you as being that.

A book that sets forth the amil position in a very simple readable style is Vern Poythress' new book, The Returning King. I hope you'll become more informed on subjects before misrepresenting them so badly and for that matter so flippantly.

Behold, post #62: quintessential, textbook, self-condemning Charismaticism: using out-of-context misapplications of Scripture to denigrate Scripture and exalt experience. (My favorite has to be your citing, clearly blissfully and wholly unaware, the writer to the Hebrews saying to hear God's voice, and then quoting Old Testament Scripture as being that living voice!)

Now, a simple task:

  1. Lay all of Scripture aside, and tell me all you know certainly of the distinctive person and works of God, the person and work of Christ, and of God's specific will for all men, women, and children everywhere.
  2. Lay all of Scripture aside, and tell us what Charismatics have added to our knowledge of God's person, works and ways in the last century.
Just that. Would you do that for us, please?

Dan

"Our prayers bend our will to His..prepare us to be a tool in His hand."

Yes! Thank you! A much more eloquent way of putting it.

Prayer often violates someones free will how do you renconcile that ?

What of the man that wants to die....the woman that enjoys her illness becuse she likes the attention? what of the man that does not want to be saved?..What if your prayer violates Gods plan??

Here is our relationship with God...that He chooses to use us to accomplish HIS plans...That he allows us to participate in the spreading of the gospel...that He places a desire to pray in our heart so that we can be part of His plan...

Quix..this is not about YOU it is about HIM...
