GROVER NORQUIST: Here Are The Only 6 Republicans Who Can Win In 2016
Yahoo Finance ^ | March 8 2014 | Brett LoGiurato

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. — Grover Norquist, the influential conservative who serves as president of Americans for Tax Reform, thinks there are only six Republicans who can win the 2016 Republican nomination for president.

His list, which he told Business Insider in an approximately hour-long interview Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.

"There are only six people who can credibly run start-to-finish, and any of them could conceivably win the presidency," Norquist said.

"And the reason is, each of those people could raise the money to run campaign all the way through. Each of those people has some name ID."

Notably, the list leaves out two prominent CPAC speakers — Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Norquist and his group have been highly critical of Cruz in the past, especially in the lead-up to the federal government shutdown last September.

Norquist's list only includes one senator — Paul — because he has made "savvy" political moves and has more of a name recognition with the general public. In general, Norquist thinks governors have a better chance of running a successful campaign.

Ever since he founded the “Islamic Free Market Institute” and his marriage to a Muslim, Norquist has sold out conservative principles and supports anything he thinks will help Muslims. I'm not interested in what he predicts. He may be getting paid for his views.

“In 2004, at age 48, he married a Palestinian Muslim named Samah Alrayyes, a Kuwaiti PR specialist who was formerly a director of the Islamic Free Market Institute and specialist at the Bureau of Legislative and Public Affairs at United States Agency for International Development (USAID).”

“The Islamic Free Market Institute (also known simply as the Islamic Institute) is a Muslim outreach group founded by Khaled Saffuri and Grover Norquist in 1998,[1] where they served as executive director and chairman, respectively.”

“The Safa Trust donated at least $35,000, and the International Institute of Islamic Thought contributed $11,000. Both organizations were alleged to be part of the so-called SAAR Network of interrelated business and non-profit entities with ties to sources of terrorism financing, and were among the subjects of a March 20, 2002 raid conducted by the U.S. Customs Service under the auspices of Operation Green Quest.

The Operation Green Quest raids led to the convictions of two people, including Abdurahman Alamoudi, who worked for the SAAR Foundation. Alamoudi admitted that he plotted with Libya to assassinate the Saudi ruler and was sentenced to 23 years in jail.”

Conservatives who hang their hat on Cruz and damn all other conservatives because they are not ideologically pure are doomed to failure.

His debate performance (while lackluster) is much better than his Governor performance.

A slew of awful Governors around the country don’t make him any more than “somewhat adequate”.

Cruz doesn't make the shit list because he refuses to kiss the brass ring. Just being on Grovel’s list is a big negative in my opinion. I don't want a candidate that associates with such scum.

Yeah, we need another RINO like McCain and Romney. Oh wait, that didn’t work out...

He Supports AMNESTY which means he prefers illegal aliens OVER my fellow American Workers.... THATS WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM!

Where does that come from? Not to be a jerk, but please cite a source. I want to know! Walker seems good on just about every other topic, and has a track record of success using conservative ideals in a liberal stronghold.

Here's what i read:

Towards the end of the interview, Bannon noted that “Amnesty is about the sovereignty of the country.” But, he asked Walker, “the Washington Post said earlier that you’re pro-pathway to citizenship.”

“See now that’s where they take it out of context,” Walker said in response. “I’ve not said there should be amnesty in this country. I don’t believe that. I don’t support the legislation being kicked around. What I’ve said repeatedly is we need to fix the immigration system, but fix the legal system. So if people want to come in this country we should have a legal immigration system.”

Bannon then interjected: “And take care of the borders and everything we have to do first.”

Walker concurred, saying that any immigration reform efforts should “fix the front door.”

“If you’re somebody, whether you’re from Mexico or Germany or Ireland, and you want to come to this country legally, we should find a way to make it happen,” Walker said.

Walker’s comments come months after, in July, the Post’s Blake ran a blaring headline saying Walker “backs path to citizenship.”

They might vote for them, at least some of them. But nobody in the base is going to expend the necessary additional effort needed to drag them over the finish line.

That being said, I could support four of the six on his list. No Bush and no Pillsbury doughboy.

“Grover told us in 2012 that Romney was the guy to get in the White House, and that we just need someone to sign all the great bills coming out of congress. How’s that working?”

It isn’t. We stayed home and got Obama for four more years. Here is the thing. Our LEADER needs to be ideologically aligned to the right. A moderate or Squish will never be elected for the simple reason that they do not stand for anything.

Liberals are horrible leaders but they take a stand on something, at least that is what the media projects. And this is why a Conservative will always win the Presidency. The media has no choice but to tag the Conservative candidate and that is what Americans will identify with. Calling Romney. Right wing lunatic is like calling Obama a Conservative. It just doesn’t jibe.

It’s the old run-around you are talking about? I was one of the original minutemen on the Arizona/Mexico border back in 2005. We were screaming THEN about the National Security issue of an open border and now in 2014 they are still singing the same song? Whats wrong with this picture?

It is smoke and mirrors issue.

It is our National security that has been compromised and we are still listening to these traitors saying “ OH but the border needs to be secured first”

What kind of ignorant people are we? The enemy is already inside our borders. But you don’t mind listening to Scott Walker speak Rhetoric.

It’s all Rhetoric. If he was a real leader he would have put out a National Security call long before he was thinking about doing anything to run for higher office. It is a SCAM and we are being destroyed from within as we speak.

Grover Norquist is nothing more than a bloviating idiot. Jindal, Bush, Christie & Perry have a good chance to become POTUS??? There is a bridge for sale in Brooklyn.

Walker concurred, saying that any immigration reform efforts should “fix the front door.”

THE IMMIGRATION SYSTEM WAS CREATED TO PROTECT THE AMERICAN WORKER!! END OF STORY!!

The immigration system needs to be fixed from the point of this: When unemployment is down to 3 % THEN we will talk about immigration again and NOT until then!

Doesn’t Walker know this? Apparently not or he is pushing His own agenda! Cheap labor for big business!

" Liberal republicans are unelectable for president. The base will not vote for them."

The establishment wing of the party is firmly entrenched in beltway culture and they believe that they have to be moderate in their choices in order to remain in the good graces of the media.

Because the media is so important to the likes of Karl Rove and John McCain they have actually allowed them to control the agenda and direct their actions.

The media will not allow members of beltway the establishment to bring up Hillary's sordid past of criminal activity and abuse of power. Thereby pretty much giving here a significant advantage going into 2015.

I believe that we have to confront the prevailing biases in the Republican business community with intelligent scrutiny. And, frankly the time is very short, if we are to be able to launch a successful Conservative campaign in 2016.

The problem is short-sighted folly, not pure evil. The Grover Norquists of this world have been played, much as was Eve in Genesis. The formula is obvious, and should be addressed, and answered, without fear.

For one take, see Another Variation On Demonic Theme;
Or
Corporate Managers & Immigration "Reform".

The real problem is how to overcome the influence of a Leftist Media, in controlling what the business community focuses on. It can be done, but it will take a concerted effort by all informed patriots.
