ATLANTA - One man is recovering in the hospital after a shooting at a Buckhead movie theater late Monday night. Shortly before 10:45 p.m. Monday, Atlanta police were called to the movie theater inside Phipps Plaza on Peachtree Road. According to officers, the gunman was angry about where the victim was sitting in the theater. An argument between the two men got heated, and the gunman opened fire, officials say.

A $10,000 reward is being offered after a 7-year-old was rushed to a hospital Monday night after being shot while riding in a relative’s vehicle near Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. The victim’s aunt drove straight to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, where the child was immediately sent into surgery and Atlanta police were called about 9 p.m. The child was shot in the back of the head, police said Tuesday during a news conference. According to police, the aunt told responding officers she remembered hearing several gunshots as she drove past the luxury shopping center on Peachtree Road....

Bonnie Lamdin Phipps is celebrating an anniversary this week, even though she admits she didn’t know it. Fifty years ago, on Jan. 12, 1969, the song Will You Be Staying After Sunday was released by Decca Records. Phipps, an altruistic alto and retired head of St. Agnes HealthCare, sang the lead on the record as a member of a Baltimore-based band called The Peppermint Rainbow.
