Dear Pat: Although I did enjoy your book Death of the West, for 15 years since I've watched you plunge deeper-and-deeper-and-deeper into your hermetically-sealed isolationist world... so deep, you'll contort into a pretzel -and say just about anything- to defend it. Here's some news for you: 1- It's not our job to decipher whether Iran 'means it' or not when they threaten to destroy Israel... same as it's not our duty (nor problem) to have to try and guess whether the Russians' various plutonium-encrusted threats are actually 'serious'. It's IRAN's and RUSSIA's responsibility to grow-up, drop the trash-talk... or simply learn to shut...

Pat Buchanan’s Dishonesty

Not unsurprisingly, Pat Buchanan has teed off on Pope Francis, and he has done so dishonestly. His latest column will stand for many others of the same sort that mix distortion, assertion, misleading rhetorical questions, dishonest extrapolations, and selective quotation to attack the pope. These writers want to hit him and they donÂ’t seem concerned to hit fairly. People who complained of how the media misrepresented Pope John Paul II and Benedict XVI have no problem using the same methods on Francis. And sadly, many conservative Catholics revel in watching the Holy Father get hit. IÂ’ll give two examples from...

Pat Buchanan: Regardless of nominee, Donald Trump surge marks 'death rattle' of establishment ... We hear wails that the nomination of Trump would mean the end of the conservative movement. But how so? If Trump won and conducted a conservative government, it would validate the movement. If Trump won and turned left, it would inspire an insurgency like Ronald Reagan’s in 1976, when the Ford-Rockefeller-Kissinger administration moved too far toward detente. If Trump ran and lost, the conservative movement would have President Clinton to unite and rally the troops against. One recalls Barry Goldwater’s historic wipeout in 1964. But, in...

To prove that @PatrickBuchanan truly was Right from the Beginning, here’s a list of times he warned you years in advance of the problems that conservatives face today (THREAD) 1 (2) Pat Buchanan warned Republicans of the globalist agenda of George HW Bush in 1991: (3) Pat Buchanan warned of declining American manufacturing in 1992: (4) Pat Buchanan correctly predicted the fallout of an Iraq War in 2002, a year before it even happened: (5) Pat Buchanan sternly warned the Republican Party about the electoral effects of mass immigration in 2004: (6) In 2010, Pat Buchanan even warned us about...

The American political class has failed the country, and should be fired. That is the clearest message from the summer surge of Bernie Sanders and the remarkable rise of Donald Trump. Sanders’ candidacy can trace it roots back to the 19th-century populist party of Mary Elizabeth Lease who declaimed: “Wall Street owns the country. It is no longer a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, but a government of Wall Street, by Wall Street, and for Wall Street. The great common people of this country are slaves, and monopoly is the master.” “Raise less corn...

Buchanan tells Newsmax TV. "Trump is indeed the presumptive nominee as of now and if he wins Indiana, I don't see how he is stopped absent divine intervention," Buchanan said Friday to J.D. Say what you will about President Joe Biden, he has stuck to his guns on ending America’s 20-year involvement in Afghanistan’s forever war. His decision not to delay our departure after Aug. 31 was fortified by hard intel that the terrorist ISIS-K was preparing attacks at Kabul airport. Thursday evening, the two bomb attacks occurred. It now seems inevitable that the withdrawal will be completed by Aug. 31, with all U.S. military forces following the last civilians out. Before this week’s attacks, the airlift had been going far better than in its chaotic first days. Some 100,000 Americans and Afghans...

On arrival in La Paz, Pope Francis was presented by Bolivian President Evo Morales with a wooden crucifix carved in the form of a hammer and sickle, the symbol of Lenin, Stalin, Mao and Fidel. Had Pope John Paul II been handed that crucifix, he might have cracked it over Evo’s head. For John Paul II had seen up close what communism did — to his country, his church and his people in 45 years of Bolshevik rule. On his arrival in the Nicaragua of Daniel Ortega in 1983, Pope John Paul castigated a priest-collaborator who dared to serve that...

Denouncing the $900 billion COVID-19 relief bill as a parsimonious "disgrace" and hinting at an Alamo-style finish on Jan. 6, when Congress votes to declare Joe Biden the next president, Donald Trump is not going to go quietly. The anti-Trumpers and "Never Trumpers" celebrating at Christmas 2020, in this "dark winter" of Joe Biden's depiction, are assuring each other that Trumpism and Trump are dead and gone for good in four weeks. The future of the GOP, they suggest, belongs to the Republicans who resisted and renounced Trump through the last five years of his candidacy and presidency. As for...

As Middle America rises in rage against “fast track” and the mammoth Obamatrade deal known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, The Wall Street Journal has located the source of the malady. Last Monday's lead editorial began: “Here we go again. In the 1990s Pat Buchanan launched a civil war within the Republican Party on a platform targeting immigration and trade. Some claimed Pitchfork Pat was the future of the GOP, though in the end he mainly contributed to its presidential defeats.” But, woe is us, “the GOP's Buchanan wing is making a comeback.” Now it is true that, while Nixon and...

Stalwart conservative and three-time presidential candidate Patrick J. Buchanan has announced his retirement from writing a weekly syndicated column. Buchanan, 84, has been a longtime Newsmax insider. After making a national name as broadcaster and author, Buchanan ran for the GOP presidential nomination in 1992 and 1996. He became the Reform Party nominee in 2000, espousing his strong opposition to outsourcing and illegal immigration. On television, Buchanan was a regular panelist on Sunday morning's long-running "The McLaughlin Group," and was an original host of CNN's "Crossfire." A prolific writer, he authored 14 books including "The Death of the West," "State...

Pat Buchanan: Why Roy Moore Matters

Why would Christian conservatives in good conscience go to the polls Dec. 12 and vote for Judge Roy Moore, despite the charges of sexual misconduct with teenagers leveled against him? Answer: That Alabama Senate race could determine whether Roe v. Wade is overturned. The lives of millions of unborn may be the stakes. Republicans now hold 52 Senate seats. If Democrats pick up the Alabama seat, they need only two more to recapture the Senate, and with it the power to kill any conservative court nominee, as they killed Robert Bork. Today, the GOP, holding Congress and the White House,...

Patrick Buchanan is usually a great writer. He must have had Scrooge's indigestion when he was writing today about the consequences to the GOP of impotently voting against Obama's Iran Deal…he thinks their veto response will demonstrate whether or not the Repubs can govern. "You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of an underdone potato. There’s more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!" Charles Dickens, "Christmas Carol"  Buchanan goes off on a tangent about Nixon in China after the ChiComs had killed so many Yanks in...

America, we have a problem. In the blood-soaked chaotic Middle East, with few exceptions like the Kurds, our friends either can't or won't fight. The Free Syrian Army folded. The U.S.-armed Hazm force in Syria has just collapsed after being routed by the al-Nusra Front. The Iraqi army we trained and equipped fled Mosul and ran all the way to Baghdad. The Turks could annihilate ISIS in Syria, but they won't fight. Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Arabs have sent zero troops to fight ISIS. A handful of air strikes is it. Now consider what our old enemies have done...

PAT BUCHANAN IS WRONG ON IRAN/MID-EAST

1) He is right in that these nations pose no threat to us. 2) Iran has been poking us in the eye for 38 years. We owe them a big punch in the nose. If they're in Syria I say take them out and let Israel get in a good hit while we're at it. Russia meeting with us/Israel + Iran protests make it an opportune time. Hezbollah is in Lebanon. No need for invasion/US troops. Just stir the pot. Buchannan is naive on this one. We can engage without being involved.
