It is/was legit. The avenue in which this is coming out hasn't been determined yet. The truth is still on its way.

I wonder where this Manny Ortiz went to? I talked with Lipscomb and he's never heard of him or his supposed claim that he worked with Lipscomb on any articles. Strange -- he tries to make a sad point and then when I checked up on him, he disappeared.

Ooo-Yah! Go Navy! Thanks for the post. And yes, John O'Neill and many of the others are my heroes. It was so much fun when we met in Wash DC for the last commercials. There were about 130 Swifties and POWs there and they were constantly cracking jokes, laughing, just great natured! I had a ball with them. John was soft spoken and so gracious to everyone (except Kerry). We were heading over to the studio to film the commercials and John grabbed me and said, "Hey, Chief - ride with me". I just sat and listened to him talk. He's incredibly smart and you just get caught up in his charisma. There were times I felt like Forrest Gump -- getting caught up in places by pure coincedence (or maybe not). What a dedicated group of men (and their wives are incredible). Yes, many things are still going to be revealed about Kerry's past and we hope to set the historical record straight about our Veterans.

Which work would that be? Lipscomb printed your work? Please do tell because if true then I really (no sarcasm) want to thank you.

By the way, if you and Tom are old friends, do you mind if I talk to him?

Last time, Ortiz then I'll assume you will go away. I am a part of the Swifties. I'm not old enough to have served with them but they adopted me into their organization. I've met almost all of them and to their credit, they are great men with more honor, integrity, success, and humility than the "gang" you obviously hang out with. They certainly were courageous and sacrificed more than any of us will know in this fight. I am proud to have contributed a small portion to their testimony. I'm sure that since you are intelligent then you have read the articles in the Chicago Sun Times and NY Sun which I painstakingly worked with Lipscomb. What do we know about Kerry now? He wrote the after-action report for 13 Mar 69. He was dismissed from the Navy under dishonorable conditions and had his medals revoked and was subsequently pardoned under Carter. He met with the enemy during a time of war and was given guidance and support to their cause. In fact, he spewed their propaganda almost word for word. He indeed provided aid and comfort to the enemy. These are all true and his time has come to answer for this. Now, go away so I can offer my apologies to those people who were unintentionally affected by my actions; about whom I really care for -- in case you don't get the picture, that doesn't include YOU!

"Posting unsubstantiated rumors without, any basis in fact, in the middle of a close election, did none of us any good."

Amen. And worse still, it undermined the work done by people who put a lot more time and effort into this than you know.

NC seems to seek the limelight and doesn't want to do the hard work to warrant it.

Well there it is I suppose. Ortiz appears to be a smart man. Seems to know the ends and outs. Seems to have nailed me -- I seek the limelight? Do I bother myself by answering that? I guess not, wouldn't be worth it. Hey Ortiz, where are you coming from? What side were you working for running up to the election?

"Well, except for the last episode with the rally, Chief did not lead us on with false hope. When he said something would happen, it did."

Imagine how I felt, if you were disappointed in the Rally. But when I get a phonecall and it says, "STAND DOWN you are going to hurt the Swifties" and "others" are saying "the Rally won't be necessary, we've got it covered" -- what am I suppose to do with that? Yep. I just whined but it pissed me off beyond words because I was hoping they were right.

I'm concerned that I have let people down on this forum and that was never my intention. This is why I didn't post much on this forum. It obviously has a wide-range of people. The truth behind the scenes leading up to the election of various stories we had were that several were held up by higher authorities. At times, like a puppet on a string, I had to bow to the will of those authorities. This appeared to be a let down to many but I asked for patience and trust that the stories would come out. This patience and trust was probably not deserved or earned by this audience, however it was not intended to. The patience and trust were asked of the Swift Vets audience -- those whose trust and patience had seen me through many trials during this period. Many wanted the story out NOW. And many couldn't understand the actions I took. Sorry, but sometimes that information was priveleged. I understand all too well the conflicts and judgements made of those who work behind a black curtain which says, "Cleared Personnel Only". I've been doing this for 20 years within the Navy. I can only promise that the story isn't finished(if my word still means anything). Hell, people, I'm a recently retired Navy Chief -- I can't move the type of mountains necessary to get this stuff into the main media. I've learned a great deal, though. Baby steps, baby steps. I don't know what many people expected of me. I often wonder while reading the negative posts -- "What have you done? Must be nice to criticize someone without the facts, eh?" I placed all my priorities on hold to focus my full attention to this effort. I've managed some small success in this endeavor, but I'm not finished either. Unlike some, I must see it through to the end. So, my apologies if I'm not moving fast enough or in whatever venue others seem to think is more appropriate. I'm working with what I've got.

May or may not be relevant:

eight court cases (circuit level) citing 1162 or 1163, and all involved officers canned for cause -- sexual misconduct, subversion, etc..

Sims v. Fox, 505 F.2d 857 (5th Cir. 12/30/1974) -- officer discharged for indecent exposure, court holds that under 1162 he serves at pleasure of President & has no property right to post. Interesting note with regard air force: "The exact terms of the discharge are important. At the time Sims was notified of his prospective discharge and at the time the Panel heard Sims' appeal, Air Force regulations provided that the discharge certificate (DD Form 214) would contain a code*fn3 which, upon inquiry, would reveal that Sims was discharged because of "fail[ure] to meet the standards of conduct and performance prescribed by the Secretary of the Air Force",*fn4 and would further reveal that the discharge was related to Sims' "unfitness, unacceptable conduct or in the interest of national security."*.... Since the rendition of the panel decision, there has been a significant change in Air Force regulations. They now provide that the code explaining the reason for discharge will not be put on the discharge certificate.*fn6 The certificate "on its face" does not reveal the reason for discharge. Furthermore, the regulations specify that narrative reasons for discharge can be obtained only by a former "member furnish[ing] the original DD Form 214 for the period of service for which he desires the narrative reasons for separation".*fn7 As explained by Air Force correspondence, "narrative reasons for separation are to be furnished only to the member and then only upon his request and provided the member can furnish the original DD Form 214."

I assume Navy regulations must mirror this as well, since the overall authority is DOD regulations promulgated to the services.

The question I still have is: DD214 required when transferring from Ready Reserve to Standby Reserve?????

I'm going to be offline for a few hours. As it turns out I already had an appointment with Michael Dobbs, Washington Post for a separate matter. I need to head out to his office now.

Thanks for the support guys and gals -- I'll certainly keep this site updated on what I can release. The story is moving along but there's a few more people to talk with.

I don't mean to be cryptic or cause mass panic. I just needed some help in the process of getting a governmental agency cooperation. I found what I needed from JW. They confirmed my suspicion. I'll have to use DOJ pressure to get the information that was confirmed earlier this morning in a phone call to this agency. If that doesn't work, then I'll use mass media. But I have never worked that way during my 20 years of service as a Navy Intelligence specialist. I guess I'm still use to the Navy way... I'm learning. This has to be completely verified before it goes to the public. I will not throw out trash to be picked up by the National Inquirer -- not my style. My purpose is to set the record straight, truthfully. There has been a great effort by Kerry's team to suppress evidence and freedom of speech -- this is what I'm fighting for. Not money, not fame or some other motive. I've been taught and try to live the creed of HONOR, COURAGE and COMMITTMENT. If that rubs certain people wrong -- too bad! It's who I aspire to be.
