Now, will true conservatives see this as an option too? Do they have the guts to leave the GOP?

I predict Lieberman winning this fall which could energize other third party candidates for future races. Exciting!

I'm glad Lieberman lost because it finally shows how whacko the Dems have become. Dems: We can't figure out why the GOP controls everything? They must have some type of scheme going. (sarcasm)

That is correct. I believe I am entitled to criticize the woman who is the poster-child of today's failing Republican Congress. I am not the McEwen campaign by the way. When I make remarks about other politicians does that mean I am representing their opponents? NO! I voice my own beliefs thank you very much. I find it insulting that you think I'm stupid enough to allow some campaign staffers to tell me what to say and use me as their dummy. You are shameless. How dare you judge my analysis of this race in that manner. I am so against regurgitating what the party says I would probably be ostracized if my fellow GOPers knew. I am a Republican because of my OWN convictions and nothing else. I am being active in this primary because I have a personal conviction on the matter. It is ME, yes me that has decided to take action. So before you make a judgment about me again please contact me personally before you make a false and personal attack again.

I believe that the Republican Party is on the verge of becoming a laughing stock among the masses. Jean is the perfect example of how nasty partisanship, RINOism, 24/7 campaigning and politicking has ruined our current Republican congress. Again, that is correct, I have posted many anti-Schmidt comments.

It is obvious that you are fond of congresswoman Jean Schmidt.

Here is my viewpoint, maybe you'll consider it to be valid and not automatically invalid just because I don't care for Jean Schmidt as a legislator. My first dealings with Jean was in 2004 when I helped my state rep. Tom Niehaus run against her for Ohio Senate. It was during this race that I lost my respect for her as a legislator and a politician. First, she used pictures of Tom's grandchildren in a negative ad that was meant to upset Tom's wife (ask me for details). Second, she was in tight with Larry Householder, the corrupt and embattled speaker of the Ohio House, and had Householder come up with several corrupt schemes to get funding (ask for more details). Third, she accused my county board of elections of being corrupt and miscounting ballots just because she did not get more votes out of my county after a required recount. Fourth, she continuously bashed my county GOP throughout the election. What really urked me was that right before she ran for Senate she had voted for Taft's tax increases, yet tried to sell herself as a fiscal conservative!!! So, this was what left the task of Schmidt in my mouth before the Congressional race.

Now to the congressional race. If DeWine had not spent $1 million dollars attacking McEwen and then later Brinkman, Jean would not have been able to squeak her way through to victory. Jean was never the front-runner in that race! And she didn't pull off a surprise victory on purpose. People were disgusted with the attack ads by DeWine and thus splintered the vote even more. So in conclusion, Jean did not have a mandate from the GOP base last primary (maybe the reason she barely won the general). Let's see if she can make it through this primary and then I'll consider her our legitimate candidate. Even so, I won't be helping her out in the general.

Even though some are voting against her because of her Murtha comment, most are NOT. This a common misperception among Republicans, but is false.

Also, people are voting against her because of the Murtha comment. Bob McEwen has actually said he agrees with her message. It is her inability to be an effective legislator that has brought her opposition. Not to mention her track record as a state rep. being a tax-and-spend RINO voting for Gov. Taft's tax increase.

Why? She is not congressional material. This past 9/11 she spent her 15 minutes at my county GOP 9/11 memorial picnic talking about how we need to remember the animal victims of Hurricane Katrina!

She would make a good RNC chairman though.

Oh really, then why did the number of registered republican voters in my county turn over to be the majority party in 2005? Why did more people pull the elephants trunk in the 2005 primary (the year of Taft's crappiest approval ratings and scandals). People weren't jabbing the GOP in that June race, they weren't happy with the choice they had. I was lucky, I happened to be out of the country during that general race. By the way, I can't think of one major "big named" volunteer in my county for Jean during that general election. This is the same county that gave Portman close to 70% in his last few elections.

Maybe reconsider your comments or at least back up your arguments better. I like debate, but "Bob McEwen is not a spokesman for conservative principles. He's just a has-been hack who wants a cushy job" is just below my level of discourse. As well as, "I admit that her notorious remark on the House floor was a major gaffe. But I prefer her loose lips to Bob McEwen's bouncing checks." Why are people willing to give up so much just to have Jean in there? I feel sick.

Bob was cleared of any wrongdoing "check" it out: http://www.bobmcewenforcongress.com/files/docs/Exoneration_Letter.pdf

Also, I think his resume is impressive compared to a two termer state house rep. and failed state senator candidate who happened to take advantage of a mixed bag congressional race and nearly lost the safest GOP seat in the COUNTRY! Sure she might be a good civic leader or PTA mom, but she is not congressional material. No wonder Congress and Republicans' reputations are going down the crapper we need a congressman with this type of experience:

    McEwen – Presidential Advisor

During his congressional service, Mr. McEwen filled a variety of positions. He served as Special Presidential Envoy for both Presidents Reagan and Bush. He also served as a United States representative to the European Parliament from 1985 to 1993. McEwen was a participant in a variety of political and military negotiations.

Rep. McEwen served as Chairman of the Environmental Affairs task force of the United States delegation to the European Parliament.

In 2002, for the third consecutive year, McEwen and two other Members of Congress, hosted a conference of Balkan Prime Ministers for the purpose of facilitating dialogue and reconciliation in that troubled region of the world.

On August 23, 1989, Congressman McEwen and United States Senator Robert Dole participated as United States observers in Warsaw, Poland to the first ever Parliamentary election of a non-Communist leader of a Soviet bloc country. Hours later, the new Prime Minister, in his first official act, received the Congressman and Senator prior to meeting with the Soviet representatives of the regime that had occupied that nation for fifty years. This action was the spark that encouraged the collapse of Soviet dominated governments throughout Eastern Europe culminating in the destruction of the Berlin Wall ten weeks later. Senator Dole and Rep. McEwen met the following day with the President and U.S. National Security team in Kennebunkport, Maine to fashion the United States response and position in support of Warsaw Pact nations seeking to break away from Soviet domination.

    Bob McEwen – Empowering America

Mr. McEwen served as a director of Empower America with his colleagues the Hon. Jack Kemp, former drug czar and Education Secretary William Bennett, and United Nations Ambassador Jeanne Kirkpatrick

Bob McEwen Experienced – International Impact

Representative McEwen served as an official United States observer in Moscow during both the 1991 Soviet Coup attempt and to the Kremlin in January of 1992 when the Soviet Union was dissolved.
Mr. McEwen was elected by his colleagues to the two most coveted positions in the U. S. Congress; the Select Committee on Intelligence which oversees all of our nation's secrets, and the powerful House Committee on Rules which has jurisdiction over all legislation in the Congress. As one of only four Republicans on the thirteen member Rules Committee, Mr. McEwen managed nearly one-third of all legislation on the House floor for the Republican side of the Congressional aisle.

McEwen legislation approved by the Congress included the National Strategy Act that realigned the chain of command during times of hostilities, directly from the Theater Commander to the National Command Authority in Washington. Defense Secretary Dick Cheney and General Norman Schwarzkopf have credited this change with playing a major role in the success of Operation Desert Storm.

He was selected by Administration and Congressional leaders to floor manage such critical national security legislation as the B-2 bomber authorization, the nuclear freeze debate, and to give the closing arguments before the vote to authorize military action by the United States in Desert Storm.

Mr. McEwen has often been selected as negotiator to bring resolution to Senate/House conference committee impasses on dozens of pieces of legislation, particularly affecting Public Works, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and International Relations.

This is my dream ticket, but obviously not a reality. I personally don't think we'll have anyone who will win in 2008. I believe we'll have a Clinton-like Democrat for President (not what I want be what America will fall for).
