“Didn’t that actually happen in the movie “Goodfellas”? Cops saw the flash of aluminum foil on a sandwich, mistook it for a gun, and shot the guy dead?”

Housing is going to crash
The #1 buyer of homes today is still the Baby Boomers and they aren’t downsizing and are buying bigger and bigger homes. Never has there been so many elderly buying so many premium homes. This is a big driver of the high prices we see today.
But as more & more of the them die, more & more homes will come on the market.
Millennials and especially Gen-Z certainly can’t afford these homes at their current prices, so there is only one direction the price can head.

Well, there’s high time and long time, but I’m struggling with the third dimension. Suggestions?
You see the way most people drive? Most people out there apparently struggle handling with two dimensions behind the wheel, so you are doing better than most.

The author also forgets that the novel is set in the year 10,191. A helluva lot of innovation can happen by that time.
Apparently though not in Biochemistry, they got all this tech including FTL travel but somehow they can't synthesize a relatively simple naturally occurring compound.
Star Trek TNG used this trope in The Code of Honor, which is often rated as one of the worst episode of the series. Which yeah it was bad, but it at least it wasn't the snooze fest Dune was.
